  1. That came out great. Powder coating it now? And POR15 inside the tunnel where the powder coating can't reach?
  2. Beautiful! That photo right there must make it up for all the trouble so far. Just stunning!
  3. Wow.. just wow!!! What a thing of beauty!!! Keep those photos coming!!!
  4. Just came across this thread... happy to see another one rescued. And too bad that place is not here in the USA... I could use that rear hatch from that black car... and the side rear qtr windows, and... lol...
  5. My father-in-law would have fun with me by dropping a bolt (or a part) from another car, while I was working on my Porsche... you can imagine the look on my face trying to figure out where the frigging bolt went... Glad I could make him laugh... All that to say, are you positive is from the car?
  6. Car is on the ground... body is off at the moment. Good to know. Thank you Paul!
  7. 1977 S1 Learning about this cars. Thanks to Bill I can see a lot of what he is doing to bringing back to life his recently acquired 1977 S1. Question I had on something we noticed. When turning the wheels to full lock (right or left), we see the steering track rod coming in touch with the anti-roll bar... can't be right. What are the contributing factors to this?? A few photos: Easy to see that the anti-roll bar bushings need to be replaced... but I doubt that is the only culprit. Suggestions? I am searching but come empty on possible causes.
  8. Found a photo of the two belt setup!!!! Now to source a new lower bracket (the one that provides the adjustment) because the one in the car has been beaten to death... We will also need both belts. Anyone that can provide the correct # for the belts?
  9. Also, still unable to find photos of what the correct setup should look like for a USA car to mount the alternator correctly... if anyone has photos please send them my way... wachuko@yahoo.com
  10. Looks a lot better now The max that they could wire it for was 75amp. Also, new wire harness should be here tomorrow.
  11. Alternator is done... I could not pick it up today and will do so tomorrow morning...
  12. I am going over threads for photo references and such... I also took some photos of the one in the car that Bill is working... Never mind the black box next to it... seems the PO had a secondary pump fitted... that will need to be corrected.
  13. I was able to take it to a local alternator repair shop and they will be able to rebuild it... so that is great news. Still trying to figure out the bracket issues... Will try to remove any custom made stuff and bring it back to stock setup so that we can use a stock belt on it. Here is the before state... pretty toasty... I will provide after photos when I get it back on Thursday.
  14. Tony, Thank you for pointing that out. Not easy to find photos that I can use for reference... still searching and saving anything that I find. Thank you again for your comments and contribution. Jaime
  15. Also can be a poor connection...positive or negative cable/wire... Had a similar issue in my Porsche and it was the positive cable at the starter end... Most of the wires inside the cable had broken and there was not enough juice reaching the starter. If looked from the side it all looked normal, until I moved the cable and realize that it was held by just a few strands. Of course I found this after buying a new starter.... Repaired the cable and all was back to normal. Original starter still in the car and new one sits on a shelve in the garage... I know it was not a Lotus, but the logic is the same
  16. I see what you mean... found photos of engines... and this diagram
  17. Tony, This is the car that Bill bought (S1S2S3 group in Yahoo)... trying to help source some of the parts. With the hopes that I can later take it off Bill's hands and into my garage for ongoing work and ownership of my first Lotus/Esprit. I was able to get an original harness (from a fellow forum member). That should be shipping out soon... That means that I would like to be able to connect via original plug. Here is a photo of the engine... I do not know if it had A/C or not, sorry. I will need to ask:
  18. Alternator in a 77 S1 is toast... literally... burnt to a crisp. Would like to source a replacement in the USA... any compatible units available? Any viable alternative that would just drop in and work? The searches that I have done only point to sources in the UK for a 69-72 Alternator from a Capri. ... nothing wrong with that, besides the higher cost of shipping, so trying to source locally (well, as near to me as possible). Thank you
  19. This is so spot on!! I have been researching, downloading photos, copying bits and pieces of information, making a list of parts needed, trying to find vendors that carry these rare parts, etc. Not an easy task when there are very few well-documented restoration projects. Anything you can do to list detail steps, share photos, call out the vendor (link to website, phone number, etc), and overall information on what to expect or avoid...will go a long way for future owners faced with these tasks. Thank you!!!
  20. Ahhh...change of owners! No wonder I could not find the thread. Thank you!!
  21. Subscribed! Do you have a link to part 1 of this restoration?
