  1. Same here 21 August. Pls add me to the list. Thx Dennis
  2. Hello, in the S1: the brightwork/chrome strip running along the tunnel and dashboard and back onto the door, is this still available? Rgds Dennis
  3. OK, thanks for following up! Dennis
  4. Any luck adding me to the list? Rgds Dennis
  5. Hi, can you count me in pls? Dennis
  6. Hi Buddsy, so do I understand correctly that a pinhole doesn't hamper performance? I've also found some repair putty that stands up to 2000 deg Fahrenheit (from the POR15 guys). Is that high enough? Regards Dennis
  7. Hi all, while searching for an G-Esprit, I bumped into a US market S3T. It has fuel injection. I wasn't aware that the G-cars had fuel injection, was this US market specific? Are there any experiences with fuel injection vs the carbs? Thanks! Dennis
  8. Hi RP, love the dash refurb, very nice Dennis
  9. Well, it seems the seller is not quite understanding the issue. We're talking manifold welding or replacement unfortunately. I don't mind pulling the engine, that would be somewhat adventurous. But I'm not looking for a project car, I want to drive immediately (already have a project car). Is a car with a pinholed manifold driveable (to get it to my place I mean)? Can things be repaired with a regular MIG welder (which I have)? I've read somewhere that the HC Esprit has an 'improved' manifold design. If replacing, do I need that specific model or can I use a previous model manifold? Thanks in advance! Dennis
  10. Turns out the car has seen regular service from Miles Wilkins (Firbreglass Services). I'll give him a call to understand the manifold/sprak plug issue. Dennis
  11. Could it be that the seller is referring to a part of the engine not being the manifold? Does that ring a bell?
  12. Well, thing is the car seems to be very nice in the other areas. So I'm trying to figure out: is the seller not understanding the matter or does he have wrong intentions. Because of all the other conversations I've had with him, I tend to believe the first. I'll have the car checked out by an expert anyway. Thanks Dennis
  13. Thanks for the replies. I'm a bit puzzled. The explanation I got from the seller is: The hole is close below the sparg plug exactly at the place where the ignition spark "works". The spark is very strong at Lotus engines and always touches the manifold because the position of the spark plug is too obliquely to the manifold. So (because the spark is logically always at the same place) over the time the cast-iron of the manifold gets to thin down more and more until it`s burnt through and a hole fell in.......... I'm not a technical genius, but it does sound a little weird to me. Is the manifold even close to the spark plugs?? By the way: I'm not trying to put the seller into a bad position, just want to make sure I understand and correct any misunderstandings (possibly caused by a language barrier). Thanks Dennis
  14. Hi all, I'm checking out a S3T and the seller is kind enough to point out that there is a pinhole in the exhaust manifold caused by the sparkplug?? I don't understand how that could happen and think maybe we misunderstand eachother. Is this a known issue? Regards Dennis
  15. Thanks Chris, I second that. So back to S3T dreamin' it is Dennis
  16. Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. The S1's condition has been evaluated professionally twice since it's resto in 1997. Most recent approx. 2006/7. Car has done 220 kms since 2003, but with full service every year. Can't tell about condition of things that need to be used to stay in good running condition though. But I see your point. I was just wondering about market developments of S1 vs S3T. Regards Dennis
  17. Hello all, I'm interested in your opinion on these 2 cars I'm considering: - restored (10yrs ago) S1 with very positive recent taxation OR - running S3 Turbo, but project car within 2-3 yrs Both red with black leather interior Same price Thanks for your input ElEsprito ---- Added later on: OK, let me give you some more info: - S1 was repainted, has Wolfrace wheels, nice interior - S3 Turbo needs repaint (or very good polishing job), interior needs retrim, specialists tell me the car is mechanically sound My intention is to drive the car and not be hassled with lots of trouble, usually serious. That is, as long as my resto project (German P-ar 1972) still needs completion I'm puzzled by the fact that price is the same. So I'm intrigued by 'historical value' vs driving fun. How much fun driving is an S1 (my benchmark is my Elise) vs an S3 Turbo? Cheers ElEsprito
  18. Hallo Ruud-Peter, interesting project. I'm a huge fan of the early Turbo Esprit as well. Where are you located in The Netherlands if I might ask? Regards Dennis
