  2. Just buy GRAND TURISMO 4 for the playstation and you can have FORD GT40, TURBO ESPRIT AND V8 ESPRIT IN YOUR GARAGE AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER HIGH PERFORMACE CARS FOR MERE POCKET CHANGE! NOT QUITE THE SAME THOUGH I KNOW!
  3. Great pictures and have enjoyed browsing and reading the spec! the car looks well evolved and you seem to know your stuff, what size tyres do you run on the front by the way!as they look wide in the photos as do the rears! regards dan
  4. No problems louis theres no shame in it its what the forums for finding out more about other esprit drivers experiances and handy hints! not that im much use anyway! enjoy the car! regards dan.
  5. HI, I also fitted new bushes and carried out the sj gear linkage upgrade and yes i know what your going through, i measured and marked everything and i when finished would not go into 5th properly or reverse. I just set about making small ajustments and kept trying it,however the new linkage and the fact that you have fitted new bushes will change where it should of origanally been quite a bit because im sure it will of been ajusted in the years of service where the bushes have slowly worn! however you said you had the top plate off, without seeing it all i can say is try some ajustment first! DONT TRY FORCING IT IN REVERSE WITH TWO HANDS! something is obviously wrong and in my experiance forcing things to work in the engine bay of these things normally ends up costing you! im sorry i cannot shed anymore light other than try more ajustment! but im sure you will have a lot more technical knowledge bombarded at you with this question! good luck and hope you get it sorted soon regards dan
  6. Happy Motoring, Treat her well and get some wheel cwntre badges! may she serve you well! p.s welcome to the forum regards dan.
  7. Get well soon troy, As for buying another esprit dont do it! engine bay fire looks rough and fiberglass will be way past it, the whole rear end will be weak and will take a lot of work,i was tempted before to buy another esprit bodyshell to build a racecar and the thought of more work, money and my wifes look on her face when i told her said it all! your car looks fantastic and hope you get her finished soon! enjoy the benefits and reap the rewards for all your hard work! chin up! theres always tommorow! regards danny
  8. Hi Nick, normally i avoid heating the bolts as i dont have the facility at home, On most cars i work on i normally use the correct spine or torx socket and put it on an 4inch extention bar an tap the end in with a hammer so its a nice snug fit! the tap helps to free of the bolt slighty and it also ensures the socket is well embedded! and if this does not work and it rounds off use the next size up and tap it in with a hammer! this normally works and i would advise changing the bolts once removed! thats how i do it! but im sure there are many other ways and im sure you will get more posts! regards dan.
  9. I spend just as much time in the garage with my baby as i spend time with my wife. love them both to bits but i think the esprit costs me more than a mistress anyway but shes worth every penny!
  10. Hi troy, when you say you removed the choke completely, what did you mean? did you just not bother to connect it? or lock choke body somehow? mine makes a funny noise when the choke is on it sounds like an old feistas tappets ( noise comes from the carbs not the engine when choke is on) DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS HAPPEN! REGARDS DAN
  11. CHEERS TROY! EVERY LITTLE HELPS! HOPE THE CARS GOING TO PLAN! STILL NEED TO PHONE LEE! WILL DO IT NEXT WEEK!
  12. Hi as Troy said in the last post, those tyre sizes are still been made just not the brand! go to the lotus esprit world site and look in there supplyers section, you will find a firm called ESPRIT ENGINEERING, 235 60 ZR 15 PERRELI P600 FITTED
  13. HI REPLACED MY WAIST BAND TRIM AND USED THE WURTH SEALANT/ADHESIVE SUPPLIED BY SJ SPORTS CARS SQUIRT THE END BIT IN,AND WET YOUR FINGURE AND WIPE OVER! HEY PRESTO SMOOTH FINISH, AND IF YOUR LIKE ME YOU DONT BOTHER PUTTING GLOVES ON! IT S THE HARDEST STUFF IN THE WORLD TO GET OF YOUR HANDS WHEN DRY! REGARDS DAN
  14. Maybe its best left in its box or sold on ebay! the way you say about the weight and possible damage this unit may do in a road traffic accident! personally i would not fit it in the car at all then, BUT YOU HAVE MADE ME THINK ABOUT MY DASHBOARD MOUNTED FIRE EXTINQUISHER,IM GOING TO REMOVE IT BECAUSE YOU HAVE BROUGHT TO LIGHT THAT MY PASSENGER OR MYSELF COULD BE HIYT BY IT IN AN ACCIDENT! I KNOW MOST ESPRIT OWNERS CARRY THEM DUE TO THE TERRIBLE PICTURES WE HAVE ALL SEEN OR EVEN EXPEIRIENCED!I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE MOUNT ON THE INNER SILLS AND BY THE STORAGE SPACE IN THE CENTRE! MAYBE OTHERS SHOULD REMOVE THEM ASWELL! COMMENTS! REGARDS DAN
  15. Hi Teigan, I would go for option four, the fiberglass will support a bracket and the weight of the unit, i have mounted a fire extinquisher to my dashboard on the passenger side and have had no problems with the fiberglass cracking it supports the weight fine. Or just put an allimnium small sheet to take the stress away from the area, Thats just my theory but its what i would go for, im sure you will find somewhere to keep it! regards dan.
  16. JUST PICKED UP THIS MONTHS EVO CAR MAGAZINE TO FIND THAT 3 OR 4 PAGES ARE OF THE LOTUS ESPRIT TURBO V THE EXIGE, ITS A GOOD WRITE RIGHT UP AND EVEN THE MAGAZINE WRITER LIVED HIS DREAM AND DROVE THE OLD G CAR. 20. Hi Neil, my s3 has the toyota setup and the front are ajustable, not sure if this is standard or not, The rears are normal shocks,i think sj retails the rear shocks for
  21. Congratulations on your new purchase, you have just purchased one of the best looking cars in the world! treat her well and enjoy the ups and sometimes the downs of esprit ownership. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT ONE DAY SOMETHING WILL GO WRONG WITH HER, BUT HEY ITS THE ONLY CAR THAT YOU CAN STAND & STARE AT ON YOUR DRIVEWAY WHEN ITS BROKEN AND STILL FEEL PROUD THAT YOU OWN A PIECE OF MOTORING HISTORY! GOODLUCK WITH HER AND HAPPY MOTORING! regards dan. p.s nice looking motor!
  22. Troy what can i say, your car looks stunning! its fantastic when they all go back togher and the engine turns over for the first time! your wise to use sj sportscars they know there stuff and touch wood i have never been sent the wrong part yet also they offer good advice! i went for my normal manifold and a stainless straight through centre pipe and stainless backbox, sounds really nice, hope to get a tubeular manifold in the future, also the air induction bypass thats on lotus esprit world.com is a pretty good mod, i used a K&N filter and a pipe straight front the ear to the airbox sounds really really nice,a nice crisp snarl not like the normal boy racer noise,Good luck with the rest of the refit and hope to see you on the roads soon! regards dan.
  23. Hi, I say better the devil you know than the devil you dont, stick to the original filter because you know its a quality item,it looks better, not that you see it anyway! And it only costs a few more pounds than an aftermarket one anyway! but thats just my veiw!
  24. From my personal experiance my s3 has been run run on mineral, however i changed to semi and found leaks started to happen, maybe me removing bits of the engine all the time! but yes i think it does find its way out the seals and gaskets more easily!
