  1. Ap discs are made from better material then the standard Lotus brakes and don't overheat as easy. Its also a lot cheaper then the
  2. Started reading it last night in bed, but fell asleep. Still not caught up on my sleep I was hearing at the weekend that KTM were invited to Hethel at the start of the year. They still haven't got back to Lotus with a date yet
  3. Has anyone put bigger discs (AP 195
  4. c/w CR box? (has this been talked about in here?)
  5. Apart from French Frolic, I have only had 3 holidays this year I only did 3 trackdays this year before I got the 2-11.
  6. Knockhill next week, then the car will be going into hiding for a month. At the end of October I am doing a trip with another 10 or so Scottish Eliser's. Walshy day on the Friday Folembray Saturday Abberville Sunday Snetterton Monday Oulton Tuesday Should be fun?
  7. This is a cross post from Scottish elises. Left work 3.30 on Wednesday afternoon, Went in past Murray for a coffee and donut (this was to be my supper) I really can't fault Graeme, Bill and Kirk the mechanic, who stayed back to help me out with what I thought was a oil problem. I must remember to let the car heat up enough to empty the accusump before trying the oil level. DOH!!! I then drove all the way to donnie. I was totally knackered as I had been up half the night before with my ill dog needing out every hour. Got to the first Hotel 11pm which was full, lucky Donnie if near east midland airport so found a Holiday inn express with a bar. Woke up early and headed for the track. Was a really good day, met up with the guys from Exiges.com and Wallsy and her hubby Gary. Wallsy had been on a Walshy day the day before and had come to Donnie for her first track day, top effort . I had fitted a 2-bular exhaust so was interested to find out what the readings were so went up to see the Noise manager (yes they have one at Donnie). They were running a 98db drive by and have 5 sensors round the track so no getting away with it. Had a really good chat with the guy who explained that they are linked to the local council and for every reading over 98 (I could see it was 100) they had to explain it by e-mail. I was mostly pushing 93-94 but I went out again and he monitored it. I pushed my luck and changed gear on the limiter right next to one of the sensors 100.1 but I got away with it as he knew that my car was on the limiter or had backfired. (they get away with approx 100 of these incidents a day???) I won't be rushing back to do another BAT day as there was to many slow cars for my liking (they hire out caravans and they had a corporate day with a fleet of chaterams been driven by guests and instructors) But then again the 2-11 is so fast everyone is going to get in your way Then the heaven's opened and the day finished 1 hour early. Never mind I had 130 mile to drive to get to Walshy's house for another drunken night with the Welshman. Saturday was hungover left late and headed up to Norwich to the hotel to meet Bob Van, Ozzy Dave, Junks and few other SELOC members. Turned up at Hethel for a BBQ that I didn't have a ticket for but blagged my way in as I was driving the 2-11. Lotus had put on a Evora experience after the BBQ, was very good with lots of interesting stuff with the development, crash test, design etc of the car along with the car its self. I must admit I do like, but still not sure if I would buy one. Back to the hotel for some beer and listen to Ozzy Dave and Junks sh1te. Sunday at the factory was really good day out. I yet again blagged my way into the VIP car park and managed to find a space right at the entrance Dave was with me and he didn't even have a ticket but driving the 2-11 breezed the guy just let us in I had only walked about 50 meters when I bumped into Nick Adams (2-11 designer ) I remembered him from 2002 Tut towers. Went into a lecture/talk he was giving about Lotus Motorsport and the 2-11. Ended up going for a coffee with him afterwards and having a good chat about the 2-11. Some interesting times ahead for the car and expensive for me Had a good look round the factory. Top day. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/lotus/default.asp?storyId=18683 Monday I drove down to Snetterton for a bell & Covill/ 2-11 track day (think there was 9 2-11's), turned up late and got a 5 minute briefing on my own, went out for sighting laps then grabbed one of the instructors (they were free all day) was great to get pointers mainly on turn in points and braking or lift off points, then had a few session before going out with Martin Donnelly in the pax seat. He was great transformed my driving style in 15 minutes. The car has greater limits then I ever thought. After lunch Gavin Kershaw was giving pax laps in a 2-11 so got out with him. He made it look so easy and helped me with gear changes and braking points. I was grinning from ear to ear. If you have never pax'd with a racing driver or even a driving instructor at a circuit you need to as you will learn more from them in 2 laps then you will in half a day on your own. Got another session with Martin and had a big moment at the end of the back straight heading sideways towards a tyre wall. Managed to save it and he said " that was more luck then talent" He was starting to show me how to preserve my tires (he must think I will go racing next year ) I seem to be driving the car too hard and need to let the car do more of the driving. Left Snetterton at 5.15 – 523miles home, got in the door at 1.50am cold and wet. I somehow managed to get through 6 tanks of fuel in one day. Another 1700 miles + on the 2-11, now has close to 5800 miles in just over 5 weeks Scotty C (mr skint)
  8. Max Your car was going well. what spec is it? Scotty C (red/white & black 2-11)
  9. Would just like to thank Scott (and all at B&C) and Jo for a great day yesterday. One of the best trackdays I have had attended, lots of tracktime (did we even have a red flag?) and great value when you add in the free instruction Had 1 session with one of the MSV instructors and 2 sessions with Martin Donnely (sorry to anyone that missed out) made a big difference to my driving style in the 2-11. Was also great to get a pax ride with Gavin and get some tips on lines and gear selection. Really hope we can get another 2-11 meet/trackday again. Scotty C PS I made it all the way home (523 miles) got in at 1.50 am
  10. This car is now for sale at Murray motors. Scotty
  11. I have booked donny for friday with bookatrack, just making the 1000 miles + worth while. See you on Sunday. Scotty
  12. I almost painted my 340r matt black. I was told it would be very had to keep and was put off. Would look very
  13. Bill Was good to read your points and troubles. On the exhaust front, I am with you and want the car to have a bit more of a rip about it. I am about to fit a http://www.2bular.com/ back box. I had ordered a full system, but this would invalidate my warranty so just fitting the back box for now and the manifold & cat will be fitted next year once the warranty runs out. Jim @ 2bular has mead 4 exhausts for me for my old elise and 340r and his exhausts are a piece of art. I am sure if you are on elisetalk you would have heard about his work. I will post up some pics and maybe some sound clips. I was at the ring last week and I got pulled over for a noise check. I had to laugh I think the SC makes more noise then the exhaust. Scotty C
  14. Thats me booked. Really looking forward to meeting fellow 2-11 owners. Scotty C
  15. Had a go last night. Jo your were right you just have to wiggle it from side to side and it closes no problem. Cheers Scotty C
  16. Its not lining the hole thats the problem, it seems to be the catch itself. The dealer seems to think he will fix it on Friday.
  17. The not so quick release catches. I am having problem getting them to closed. It was just one to start with, but now they are both doing it. Took me 10 minutes to get it closed last night(almost got the hammer treatment) When you open them you push the small part and the clasp springs up. When closing is there a lock? do you have to push the small release or should they just close? Thanks Scotty
  18. Scott Cruickshank Black scorpion: Red/black/white SVA, sport pack #162
  19. Hi Dean You have a bit of talent then I have watched you Mt Buller Sprint hillclimb clip a few times, one of the best clips ever. I have driven that hill (back in 94) I went to a mountain bike downhill race there. I was in a old clapped out scooby that I bought and used when I was travelling round Oz. I would love to have a race up it in the 2-11. Watch out for the wombats I will have a look at the other clips later. Cheers Scotty C
  20. Scott Do you still have places left? Bit of a hike for me, 1000 miles +. Cheers Scotty C
  21. That's a shame Jo it would have been good to meet up with a fellow 2-11 owner. Scotty
  22. Been a great few days. I collected the car from the dealer Saturday afternoon. Murray's is 120 miles from me and drove down with my mum (yes I am 37). It pi55ed down the whole way down the road wipers on double speed. I started to think I would just do the paperwork and come back down another day and collect it. But I don't have much time as I am off the France (LOT FF trip) next Saturday and then to the ring. So the car need run in. Really weird I have only ever bought 1 car from a dealer and that was a new L200 2 years ago. But the whole experience was great. Graeme at Murray's in Edinburgh has been really good, yes I have given him a lot of money, but it has only been 4 weeks since I called him to say I wanted a car and I was luck enough to get a customer cancelled car, but sorting out the colour change with some of the people at Lotus on holiday and the launch of the Evora etc. He only got the car on Thursday night at 6 and it had to be valeted, full Deffendall kit fitted and also taxed (SVA cars are supposed to take 3 days to get taxed now?) I turned up at the dealer with approx 8 or so friends from Scottish Elise's looking at my car pride of place in the middle of a very impressive showroom with 15 or so new Lotuses. Well I could not believe it by the time we did the paperwork went over the car chatted to everyone, the rain had gone off. First 30 miles was back up the motorway and I had to stop off at a friend of a friend who imports these into the uk. http://www.wileyx.eu/pages/groups.asp?menuGuid=10138 great for the 2-11. From there I headed along a fast quiet A road, but I was finding confidence (and my ribs) was still shaken after my knock. It's the first time I have really driven a car outside town since. Was great made it all the way home with no rain. Sunday was a wash out but I still took the car out but got caught in 2 heavy showers lucky for me I was parked up both times. Once was at my local supermarket and I had to sit inside for 20 minutes waiting for the rain to stop. I have used the car to drive to work the last couple of days (it would be rude not to) and last night I drove up to a very good friend of mine (some of you might know Tut) and we went for a run. Nice dry night and my confidence coming back I started to push the car a little. The biggest difference you notice with the 2-11 over the 340rR and the 240 Cup that I owned is the down force. Ok I am still running it in so can't really push it but the cornering feels unreal. I have always had good handling cars. I have a guy close by that sets them up for me. Anyone that has driven my 340r (inc Andy Walsh) commented on how well it drives. But the 2-11 is in another league. The front end feels much lighter then any other elise variant I have ever driven and the turn in is very caterham like compared to a Elise variant (does that make sence?) Its hard to talk about the power when trying to take it easy but you can feel it's a quick car. I really can't wait to get this thing run in and get it on track. 300 miles and still not worn a helmet ) Scotty C
  23. I was a customer cancel car. It was red, white & blue but I got the factory to paint it and change the decals from blue to black. I was wanting a Orange one but could not wait. I am loving the colour and like the fact its a one off. I thought they would be able to give you a delivery date by now? Scotty
