That worked. A quite ambitious asking price but Excel and Elite prices do seem to be creeping up, I think.

It’s at the Riverside shopping centre right now (Friday lunchtime). The owner went into Subway.
Coolest car in the car park, of course.

I like how, in the advert for the red car, the seller waxes lyrically about how good the car is before dropping at the end, "Needs complete restoration." 😁

Seems a bit high for the condition but, I suppose, a good starting point for negotiation.

Now sold. That didn't take long.

That stands out a bit!

The early Spider chassis had a tubular front crossmember whereas the Lotus one had a box section. This should be visible looking under the front of the car or with the bonnet open.

Missing my point: I would not buy a car now with a Spyder chassis. Plenty of choice, so buy a Lotus with a Lotus chassis.
What happened decades ago is not relevant to this discussion.
I'll bow out, I can only give advice as I see it, having owned numerous old Lotus including one with a Spyder chassis (once and never again).

I get Justin's point now. Lotus chassis are available so why get a car with someone else's? He dodged the point about the dampers, though, by answering regarding the Elise but, yes, the special thing about a Lotus is how it handles and you don't want something that has been messed with if it's avoidable.

My understanding is that the Spider chassis had the same suspension geometry as the Lotus one. It was just a bit stiffer.
Why do you do if you need new dampers as they are no longer available and they can have a big effect on the handling?
How do you feel about the LotusBits manufactured chassis? They are not made by Lotus but use the Lotus jigs, I believe?

I cannot see the point. The car may well have been a wreck and past saving but why would you want a hot tub made from.a car?

As the poorer countries get richer, their rates of population growth will probably decline and the populations will start to drop. The maxi.I'm expected population is around 10.4 billion. Population growth rates have been reducing since the 60's.
That's the good news but, as you point out, richer populations consume more resources and I have no idea when or what the maximum resource consumption will be.

Interesting that Luxembourg's NATO contribution is only 0.72% of GDP but its per capita spending is over 50% greater than that of the US.

Today, the infant and child mortality rate is extremely low, so why are people having 3, 4, 5 or more kids? After the second world war, the population started to explode as (1) we had killed off a lot of our your lads in the war, and (2) advances in health, clean water, and nutrition meant that more of our young survived. From around 1960, the population exploded in the UK, but from a global perspective, it more than DOUBLED to over 8bn in just over 60 years!
The growth of population, globally, is the biggest, single, contributor to the impact on climate. I don't hear anyone advocating a ban on the number of kids people can produce. But, if they really wanted to "fix the climate" that's what they should be doing.
In many of the wealthy countries the UK included, people overall are not having enough children to maintain the population. Kids can't afford houses so easily so work longer before having children compounded by getting into serious relationships later in life and starting to have children later. This is a problem with an aging population as going people are needed to support and care for old fogies like me.

Never mind. At least you problem is sorted and if that's the only thing you've done wrong, you're doing very well.

I enjoyed it. Some great photography and some good stories and cleverly done.

When I worked at Gaydon, one of the chassis engineers drove it. He was impressed but the suspension was very noisy with the hydraulics pressurising and de-pressurising all the time.

Bought it two days ago. Now I've finished my latest issue of Absolute Lotus I can start on this.

Saw it Yesterday (the 4th). It was heading East on the A45 at noon when it took the slip road to Brackmills industrial estate.
Looked very nice indeed.

Found out that Gil de Ferran died yesterday. I worked with him in 2000 and it was a pleasure. We won Penske's 100th CART race, the championship and set the world closed course speed record during qualifying at California Speedway (241.43 mph average speed over the lap).
He was a trained engineer as well as a great racing driver which made working with him more interesting.
Yesterday, he was racing his son when he felt unwell and stopped then had a heart attack and couldn't be saved. Reminded me of ACBC's demise.
