  1. It’s at the Riverside shopping centre right now (Friday lunchtime). The owner went into Subway. Coolest car in the car park, of course.
  2. I like how, in the advert for the red car, the seller waxes lyrically about how good the car is before dropping at the end, "Needs complete restoration." 😁
  3. Come to The Lotus Forums to find out which MX5 to buy. πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘
  4. Seems a bit high for the condition but, I suppose, a good starting point for negotiation.
  5. I'm told that, when Mazda engineers approached Bosworth about help on the engine, they referred to it as the, "Lotus Elan project."
  6. The early Spider chassis had a tubular front crossmember whereas the Lotus one had a box section. This should be visible looking under the front of the car or with the bonnet open.
  7. I get Justin's point now. Lotus chassis are available so why get a car with someone else's? He dodged the point about the dampers, though, by answering regarding the Elise but, yes, the special thing about a Lotus is how it handles and you don't want something that has been messed with if it's avoidable.
  8. My understanding is that the Spider chassis had the same suspension geometry as the Lotus one. It was just a bit stiffer. Why do you do if you need new dampers as they are no longer available and they can have a big effect on the handling? How do you feel about the LotusBits manufactured chassis? They are not made by Lotus but use the Lotus jigs, I believe?
  9. I cannot see the point. The car may well have been a wreck and past saving but why would you want a hot tub made from.a car?
  10. As the poorer countries get richer, their rates of population growth will probably decline and the populations will start to drop. The maxi.I'm expected population is around 10.4 billion. Population growth rates have been reducing since the 60's. That's the good news but, as you point out, richer populations consume more resources and I have no idea when or what the maximum resource consumption will be.
  11. Interesting that Luxembourg's NATO contribution is only 0.72% of GDP but its per capita spending is over 50% greater than that of the US. Linky
  12. In many of the wealthy countries the UK included, people overall are not having enough children to maintain the population. Kids can't afford houses so easily so work longer before having children compounded by getting into serious relationships later in life and starting to have children later. This is a problem with an aging population as going people are needed to support and care for old fogies like me.
