Excellent Choice
As we are fortunate to own Esprits, what would we choose to drive?
I've driven, a few other cars from the 80's - Countach, DeLorean and an F40, but what I'd really like to try is one of these...
Okay so it's got an autobox, but a bloody great big V8 has to be a giggle...
I had a model Vector about 20 years ago, one of my favourate toy cars. To this date, never seen one in the flesh. I can remember videoing Top gear when they test drove a red one years ago - even they loved it.
-
Take some Esprit pics in the Highlands if heading that way - Love that place.
-
Many happy returns. I'd send you a piccy if I knew how to. (the thoughts there though)
-
Oh dear! Kin terrible idea. That has to have my vote as worst mod yet. (couldn't find a "throwing up" smiley)
Pic looks like Astra/Corsa ?
-
Maybe we could make it a Bi-annual event.....or maybe 5 yearly? Or maybe all just meet up to raise money for charity and do the convoy!
Smileing again - Any of those options sounds good to me.

My air con bottle never seems to last that long. Have to get it filled quite regularly. Anybody elses drain quickly?
-
The more I look at the pics - the more impressed I am. Got to give this a go. Had esprit 5 years, leather looking tired/cracked and very dry.
Now you have completed the treatment, how long would you expect it to stay in this condition or is it a case of keep feeding and keep painting?

That really is a beautiful looking car now Fishy. Bet you cant take your eyes off it now its looking that together. (I always think the rims are key to a cars overall looks) Inside looks great too. That will feel great when your driving it - almost like a new car.

Brilliant!!!

Think the only people really getting away without displaying one are bikers. By law again they should be on display but always kept mine locked under seat (know so many people who had theirs pinched)
Got pulled over twice last year and diddn't even come up in conversation.
-
Sorry Alan. You do need to display a valid disk. Take certificate of motor Ins. to the Post Office and buy over counter. Had same problem last year. Unfortunately its not just good enough to have proof you have purchased it - it has to be displayed. Mine took nearly a week to arrive.

Dammit, all the fun gatherings are on your side of the pond!
Tony, you don't find them in ponds - there all eating grass

USELESS FACT : Strange but true.
Only 4 people in the world are allowed to drive without any numberplates at all -
1 The reigning British monarch
2 The President of the United States
3 The Pope
4 The Prime Minister of Malta
-
Wow!! I bet his key ring with that bunch of car keys on looks quite impressive.
-
This event will probably be the biggest gathering of Esprit owners/cars - probably ever.
(I know I'm doing a "glass is half empty" comment) The down side being - Its just dawned on me - I will probably never see so many Esprits in one place at one time ever again. But any other Lotus meet/hoon/track day after this will not seem as good and as well organised as this October meet is.

Good luck Simon. Have a good look at the paintwork when you see it. Sometimes the paint has faded. It has always been a problem with red Esprits. Having said that, always did like the "G" cars in red.
-
I think your right, its all games. I read Toyota engine in a mag last month. I'm not believeing anything until I hear it from the horses mouth. (Well, Kimbergod anyway!)
-
Some nice styling features - Love the 3 exhaust ports.
-
Belated (with 50 mins to go) Hope you had a good one.
-
Enjoy being "waited on" but get well soon.
-
I would offer but both seats taken. Sorry
-
Totally freaked me out. I read the whole think 4 times and only counted 3 F' each FFFing time. Weird!
Or just me being thick more likely.

Kimbers/Bibs
I sure as hell dont want to miss filming the journey to the factory - somewhere in the middle of a 100 strong Esprit convoy. Are you saying I cant even enter the premisis with a camera even if turned off, or will we need to give it to security on way in, to be picked up later or just leave it locked in boot when we arrive?
-
Tut tut, my dear boy, coming from Exeter you'll run out of oomph somewhere on the M11 if my calculations are correct
May I suggest an additional step:
3. Fill with fuel.
Sat nav says 374 miles to hotel. I better also make a No. 4 -
4. Empty ashtray again.
shes home!

Well done Simon.
Its a great feeling to get your Esprit home. Its a real buzz to keep telling yourself - She's all mine.
Enjoy.
