does anyone know if  carbs can be fitted to a fuel injected model / charge cooler esprit

You'll need the manifold as well as the carbs. 😀

Cheers,

Plus:

connection from cc/rear of plenum to connect to carb balance pipes.

flexible carb mounts

different plenum backplate to loose the secondary injectors and install intake trumpets.

lower pressure fuel pump &
different fuel regulator

Might also need to look at how you control the ignition, as standard ecu (if fitted) probably won’t like not having control of fuel.

Can I ask why you would want to convert from fuel injection to carbs?

If you're looking at using the bare engine of a ChargeCooler one, then check compression ratio (I cannot recall whether it  was increased for CC). You'd not want to increase compression ratio on  a non-ChargeCooled engine as they are already close to the safety limit of the pistons.

Hey Tony,

do you mind me asking what happened to the engine? Just thinking that a rebuild might be better than an exchanging it for a used one.

assuming that is, you’re not doing a restoration project and there was no engine to start with.

What model esprit of esprit is it, and have you tried the usual specialists?

Hi Chris

Its a 1989 Stevens esprit turbo, what happened to the engine was about 6 years ago I was travelling to Le Mans classic when the head of one of the exhaust valves fell off and pummelled it self into the piston and cylinder head, the engine was  stripped and inspected. Some of the bores had worn through the chrome /nickel  lining, the turbo was damaged as the valve passed tho and also found the exhaust manifold was cracked, the engine was left laying around in bits for many years so many of the smaller bits have gone missing.

with that in mind I was just thinking a second hand engine may be a easier fix

Cheers

Tony
