Local Knowledge - M6 Birmingham

Recommended Posts

Family wedding in Oswestry this coming Saturday.

We're driving up on Friday via M6/M54/A5. Anticipate reaching the Birmingham stretch of the M6 approx. 2 - 3 o'c.

Question - is the 'old' M6 round Birmingham fairly free of delays/roadworks at the moment or would we better using the M6 toll?

take the M6 toll to the M54 and then A5 past Shrewsbury up the 483 to Oswestry, have a good day

Yep Toll road every time unless you want to spend your day counting the delays and how long you sit in them.

So, it's marginally in favour of the M6 toll then :(

Seriously, that really is helpful. Thanks ever so, chaps :w00t:

We've decided to take the Esprit and make a long weekend of it. We're staying in what appears to be a cracking hotel just outside Oswestry - Pen-y-Dyffryn. Eating there on Friday evening, wedding on Saturday, long walk on Sunday and back home in the evening.

Has the makings of a superb weekend! Don't want to risk spoiling it by needlessly sitting in a jam on the M6 if we can avoid it.
