Hi All,

Well to my suprise when I came in to work this morning look what was in the front garden !!

ucl_lotus.bmp

If your in or around london its definitely worth a look round, it looks like they are there for the whole day. There's quite a few cars there and plenty of old F1 cars. The exhibition is in the main quadrangle which is accessed via the main entrance to UCL on Gower Street. The official explanation is as follows......

By way of forewarning, next Monday, 29 October, will see a public display

and exhibition of around 30 Classic Lotus cars in the main quad. This is not

a regression to our old policy on car-parking in the quad, but part of a

day-long celebration of the life and work of Colin Chapman, the UCL alumnus

who went on to found Lotus cars and then to win seven Formula One

Championships. 2007 is the 25th anniversary of his death. There will also be

an exhibition in the North Cloisters featuring UCL Engineering today,

including our current students SOLARFOX (about which more below); displays

from Group Lotus, including their Olympic bicycle; and also from UCL

Business, showcasing their services and various links to automotive relevant

industries.

Martyn :)

Man that is superb !

Wish I'd have known, probably would have taken the day off to go up and see that !

Those Black V8s came from the factory like that iirc - only 2 of them.

The Black V8 had a plaque on the glove box saying it was one of the last of the line. The cars where still there last night when I went home, they had flood lights on them. The S1, M100 and a few others where still there this morning as well !.

Heres some interesting drawings, unfortuately reflections on the glass obscure the image a bit ......

The white S1 has the reg Paul Godfrey has been after for god knows how long. Is that his car, the real plate, or another white S1 mocked up to look like the Bell & Collville turbo car?

Regards

Mat

The 340r on display belonged to ex-Sport 300 owner Justin Pressland, a member of LEF.

The event was to showcase engineering and there was also a dinner attended by the likes of Damon Hill, Sterling Moss, John Miles, Mike Kim et al to mark 25 years(ish) since Chapmans death.

There was a Bell & Collville sticker on the rear wing on the S1. I can't remember the owners name unfortunately.

There's some more info here if anyone is interested.
