power windows

Recommended Posts

Took off my doors to freshen up my door pins and all moving parts for the power windows on my 78 s2 esprit,as i also went in to rewire the motors with 12 gauge wire[wich by the way should be a must for anybody that owns a G car as you will probably see a 25 to 30 percent increase in speed as i have]noticed that these motors are from the good old GM parts bin.So i did a search on ebay for power window motors And there you go late seventy corvette motors look identical.Im sure you could probably find them crossed with some other "cheaper" GM car so you dont have to buy them with a "corvette hat on".Cheers

Bad news, Iain. The diagram got wiped out in an upgrade of the forum software a while back.

Here's the topic, anyway.

Another way to speed up your windows is to spray your runners with a lubricant but I cant remember which  . PM TonyK for info as he recommended it.

The relays are the way to go.

You can use the existing wires from the switches can be used to activate the relays which I placed in the doors. This means a simple running of a power and ground wire to each door. I put an extra fuse box in supplied by a wire direct from the battery which gives future power supply options.

There are 2 wire and 3 wire lifter motors which require different wiring. Mine were 3 wire. One for up, one for down and ground. 2 wire you reverse the polarity to change direction.(My Lancia is like this)

Hi,

I just installed the relay system outlined above in my S2.2 and the results were certainly impressive, at least doubling the operating speed of the windows. top marks to whoever came up with the circuit diagram and was thoughtfull enough to post it. Thanks!
