Anyone own a M100 Elan?

used to have a red 92 se.....great car excellent engine too....

things to check / ask after.....

cam angle sensor has it been renewed?

belts and service (much like any Lotus a good one thrives on being driven but with lots of regualr looking after)

hood seals are very very expensive....check the footwells for wetness when they let in water (they all do a little but some are really bad if the seals are gone)

interior trim is hard to come by these days in particular the door latches break and the glove box lid warps

steering racks are not cheap so check that the car self corrects sterring ok....

and uprated discs and pads are a must cos the brakes are not too great - but a good one WILL stop in pleanty of time if you stamp on it!

theres prob a few more key things but i cant think off top of my head...perhaps someone can add to the list?

my advice is if you havent had one and it looks like a nice one - DO IT great fun for summer...

LEC is the forum for them, but nice that there's now such a close link with LEF and some joint hooning.

They have been considered the most reliable Lotus ever built. As with anything don't pay too much. I've been toying with getting one but some asking prices are just way too high. They are a hard car to sell so negotiate. A good one should be in the range of $9K-$12K. Good Luck - Gavin
