New Bond less sexy than Old Bond

there's a world of sh!t between an aluminum block vega and a small block in terms of reliability :P

And the Malibu shouldn't enter the equation at all, using either the Duratec 4 cyl or the old Buick 6 cylinder engines. Though old camaros did use a different variant of that same Buick 6 cylinder, I was talking more about the (real) variants with V8

(I also had a 6cyl camaro and had no issues with it mechanically)

A small block chevy may not be the best engine but it'll run forever with almost no maintenence.

being a miser, i tried buying domestic as it was the most efficient use of funds. the 1984 chevrolet corvette was the worst car i've ever owned. handled terribly, considering all the research and development behind it. could never read the all digital gauges in daylight. i sold it less than a year later at a loss since blue book value continued to drop. thanks america.

Oh Clive Owen.

I thought you said Bill Owen.

:P;):P

As for Yank cars being unreliable pieces of crap, my old Full size Buick wagon has 300,000 kms on it and posseses most of the parts it was made with. :P

Its not to sophisticated , but it gets the job done! :D

They ran into serious problems trying to make downsized cars to compete with the Japanese and Euro imports :(

Slade, please stop talking about the Hoff :P:(;)

i was talking to a ferrari owner in a carpark, and he was interested in specs of my esprit. i referred him to this forum, and he said: "Oh, the one with all the Hasselhoff photos". we're famous for the wrong reasons.

my first and LAST american car bought new after working 2 summers in high school was what i thought was a sharp looking car at the time- this car is often at the top of the list of worst cars ever made. it usually does battle with the 81' cadillac 8-4-2 engine for worst honors....wat else could it be but a 1973 bright red chevy vega with it's lightweight aluminum block engine. engine blew a head gasket and cracked the manifold at 3400 miles. put in a "new"used 11,000 mile engine and it blew a head gasket and cracked the engine block again within 2500 miles. original cost $2200 cost of ownership for 9 months and my american car experience $5400 when your in high school and the minimum wage was $1.60/hr that's a lot of $$$ back then. i have never bought another american car and yes i'm highly biased at the built quality and engineering of any american car. new models are the worst. it take the american builders usually at least 4 model years to get the bugs worked out to finally produce just an "average car" mind you not the excellent cars from the far east and europe- just average and far inferior to the others. the BEST american car produced now is likely about as good as the best hyundai made 8-10 years ago.

That Vega engine lead to Cosworth developing its own aluminium casting process to get good-quality castings as the Vega ones were so full of holes.

Trev, I remember the Cosworth-Vega quite well. I used to help Derek Lawrence with his Chevron F3 car in the early 80s. :P

His was the only F3 car using this Cosworth-Vega engine,

It went pretty good , but wasnt a match for the Toyota Novamotors. :D

I dunno. Someone starts a perfectly reasonable thread about James Bond and we end up talking about cars - and American cars at that!

Its my understanding that they want to go back in time to where bond got his "00" stripes, but I have a contact at Aston Martin that says the new film will feature a new Aston-but how can that be in Casino the book he drives a Bentlley. Also if they are going back before Dr No even the DB5 will be too modern!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

He drove the Bentley in From Russia with Love, of course. It was just that Goldfinger was the first gadget movie and the Aston had a bigger part and considerably more impact!

So the last car was invisible - what next?

Should Bond be blond or should he dye another day?

I liked the best bond girl thread ALOT better than this one. :D

All this Hoff stuff etc. disturbs me ;)  :P

Thats much better :P  :P  :P

Wayne... we often have similar taste in cars, but I'd almost rather do the hoff than that chick. And I'm straight. (You can come over to my house and try to give me an erection if you don't believe me) The Hoff's gun is bigger as well. Unfortunately no one can pull the hoff away from his puppies (literally- I tried) ;)

Sorry if it's your wife or daughter. If it is then be assured I won't pollute your gene pool :( (If it isn't, then don't be surprised if your wife gives birth to a slade baby)

I'm bowing down to you as we speak (and not for the obvious reason :P)

seriously... good score dude! I can't even score an 18 year old, but that's another thread.

FACT: Esprit drivers are all slimeballs and it is the high class alternative to the trans am. Anyone got any coke?

Andretti: you should see what I'm doing while I'm typing :P

Last 18 yr. old I made it with was the Mrs. (I was 22) :)

Sorry if most of the California males on this forum would rather do the Hoff than Caroline Munroe :(

Fishy, an 18 yr. old and surfing, you really do have a death wish :(:D
