not sure about the shifter cables -as i just need some suitable grommets there. Have to source out the equivalent parts to use.. .

Bud the other things are good, thanks for that - you have an return-mail :wine:

..'ve got an sms from Holger this night -do you (or someone else..) have an S4/S4s/V8 type windscreen available. Something from one of the Lotus-parts sale outs !?

not bad for the old dog !

..its a bit wet out there today -so I've got wheel-spin in 3th gear on hard acceleration  (all without CEL or overboost codes) -seems that i have adjusted my old rusted wastegates good enough for now. One of those was manipulated with some stuff inside (years ago, and it still works..). Anyway , it needs to get sorted with other types -want to drive the car for another 10 years and more !

The LH driveshaft looks good too...for now. Think i can go on the ride for the October gathering without any fear of shouts on the ferry. Last year I've added an plate under the old Ford, just to get sure there is no oil under the car if i drive out of the ferry driveway... . BILD0433.JPGBILD0434.JPG

as 'the old man' is back on the road there was some time to dig this out of the Forrest on our private-ground.BILD0438.JPG

think I will need an *French farmers mill* too  -this little girl is not that heavy, bud with all the weight concentrated on the hips it's a little maneuvering work to fit it in.. . BILD0439.JPGBILD0440.JPG

So there is a new toy for 'spanner man' stuff here, will look that i can start with the project of reanimation in winter time. Bud as it is no Esprit it will not be covered here in the board.

So long ! ...see you girls & guys in October

I will not talk about what i think of the green/orange 'glue' that was used on Elise-Frames. Especially about DIY mods on repairs. It's all mine -so for now (and as it is still not clear what the aim is 'German road-legal' or just 'on track-fun', or an working project for the university..) i can do what i think it needs to be done with the chassis.

Suspension, anti roll bar & steering-rod on front left side is bust, rear right alloy-frame section is damaged -and all the rest is all around damage (crashbox, radiator surround, windscreen, windscreen-frame, both sills, both doors, mirrors, front-clam, front hood, engine lid, rear clam ..)

It's a total strip down & rebuild/conversion/modification (or what ever..) from the base profiles on. It will not be seen outside this place for years now  (just remember, one 918engine and two fuel tanks was one year in my way of working. -It's a thing to enjoy, not to get an short term profit of it !)

PS. not sure about what you mean with 'bird' !? as you know -there is a lot of *wildlife* around :D maybe there is one, bud normally i just ignore them.... .

an other day -same way. more aggressive=more speed.

Still working good so far! I've got some smell of my 9year old Dunlops and interesting data logging on the OBD screen  all in all no codes or CEL so far, wounder what setup is used for the initializing of the CEL (have to verify that in the manual later..)

(screen_log says o2-sensor voltage on 'rich side' , 78.7 % TP ; 46.2 % load and around 188kPa pressure)

Next important thing is to stiffen up the drivetrain/gearbox assembly.

Will post that on an different section.

  • 1 month later...

Tomorrow I will se, if I can get one of those cables to connect my Esprit with my Laptop... But you really have to explain me, what I can read out of the OBD! Actually this all looks the same and very strange to me... Not mentioning your conversation with Mike about CEL, kV-something, and so on

first break-down for me today: managed to get into the parking position in front of the university. But the old gear-shift cable split. Not an real problem (as i can either manually choose 3. or 4. to run the car around town (with other words: keep away from the Autobahn..) -or chose the ADAC pic-up services

made it home well ..

the 'old man' tends to do it more in easy ways -so I can easily forgive him. As i feel like one of the old F1 hero's now , who get the option to choose only one gear in the pits to pass just across the finish-line. 3-gear, 2000-3000 rpm was the best compromise between clutch engagement-point, rpm, engine-temp. & groundspeed in town-traffic.

:unworthy:

....there was a lot *diplomatic-corps* around today, so it was a little chaotic anyway..

Interesting (or as it is dark outside.. !?) no shouting, 'bad finger' or horn signals. Think most of the others could just not understand why the hell is this guy doing 50km/h in Germany on a country road? So those wondered and tried to follow me as if I'm one of the escorted embassy-cars.
