sudden lurch when accellerating

Hello all.

I think I know the answer to this, but just wanted to see what the rest of you think before I spend a small fortune, and loads of time, changing the engine mountings.

When I am cruising along with no throttle, and then I suddenly press the accellerator peal (ever so gently) there is a quite marked 'jolt' in the car. It's not really a massive accelleration thing, but it does feel like that. The whole car briefly shakes..

hard to describe really, but it means you subconciousley avoid pressing the accellerator pedal as you are dreading the jolt you get when you do.

I changed my engine mounts and gearbox mounts probably 8 years ago.. are these likely to need swapping again?

If so, is there one particular culprit? I don't want to have to get the car in bits in a trial and error fashion, swapping them one at a time. it'll cost more on carriage, and time in the long run. So, I'd like to either get the right one first time, or reluctantly swap the lot.

Is there anything else could cause this?

cheers,

Glyn.

I do have throttle cable issues, must admit.. but I thought I'd sorted that. When it's hot, the throttle sticks open slightly. I think I have resolved that though. It is the plenum system expanding and putting extra tension on the cable. I slackened off the cable slightly and that is fixed.

You only have to touch the throttle slightly for it to happen. It could be a sticking cable I suppose..

Someone really, really needs to market a 'throttle by wire' system that is retrofit, like those 'universal' central locking kits you used to be able to buy!

Mark, I'll check that gearbox mount.. That's proably the easier one to change if it has gone!!
