Indicator side repeater

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Anyone replaced the side repeaters on their S3, my nearside stopped working so I took the lens off to check the bulb and found that the internals had disintigrated. I bought a couple of new ones from SJ and am going to replace them in the next couple of days, wondered if it's a straightforward job.

When you remove the unit from the wing are the connections accessable externally or are they buried under the dash. The reason I ask is there's approx four feet of cable with the new units.

Les,

Not an S3 I know, but my S4 has spade connectors on the back of the indicator units. Is the wire separate or hard wired into the units?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Yup

Changed the side repeater on one side (so they're odd but who can look at both sides at once smile.gif )

Its mounted to the body with self tappers and the wires on the one supplied by SJ have different connectors so I simply spliced them to the existing wires.

Had to re-make the earth as the unit itself is expected to earth to a metal body and in its original fitment the earth wire is held by one of the mounting bolts.

Oh yes and I had to remove the mounting studs as getting access from behind to put nuts on them is a no go.

Fortunately the mounting plate is a little bit larger and so covered up the multitude of holes from the DPO mounting the original in 3 slightly different places

How did you get on? Did you do it? I am in the same boat and am hoping not to have to get to the back??

Cheers

Hi Scott,

Yes, did it no problem, I traced the wires to the luggage compartment behind the washer bottle took about an hour to do the job.
