Hope everything is all ok @Sparky 👍
  3. Number plate, but it actually does say Emeya. Just has a very short upright on the Y that makes it look like a V.
  4. I read somewhere that the Russians make no effort to remove the dead as then they would have to pay the family for the loss. No dead body? No requirement to pay the family. I doubt the full figure of Russian dead will ever be known. Same as the number of children that have been moved by the Russian army. I doubt that anyone would even know where they all are now. I hope that Ukraine does not operate the same way with their soldiers. The whole thing is a totally unnecessary ego-trip for a criminal.
  5. I was going to say I've got a stringline you could borrow, but I'm in Australia, so a bit silly for me to offer it as you can probably buy one at your local hardware shop. Or are the houses in the same squiggly line as well? In which case the fence is perfect.
  6. The reason wasn't given in the news piece. Just that one had been made. It was meant to be removed today, but there was nothing about it on the news tonight, so maybe the council found a road to repair or a playground to mow.
  7. True. I brought this up in here as it its Mike Johnson's delay in bringing the Ukraine vote to Congress that is the main reason behind my posts. Not so much Trump, though I do see the overlap. I had a think before I posted and thought this was the best place.
  8. Hi Bill @bogle. I have read about the Jan 6th antics and Mike Johnson's involvement. Couldn't miss it all on the News. The next question to follow is how the hell did he get voted into such a position of influence? Surely people in Congress would have seen that nomination and ratification would be contrary to what I see the role should be? Basically, a party member, but more responsible to the country than to his own self-serving interests? And especially a blatant, out in the open, subjugation that he exhibits to a person that has already stated many ideals that should make thinking people very wary of him. And the orange one is also not a member of Congress and so should not be able to influence the mechanics of that part of government for his own aggrandisement?
  9. The piece was on the news. It is in a suburb in Melbourne. People are already up in arms about it.
  10. So some little girls, with help from dad have built a little fairy garden on the verge outside their house. Eighteen months it has been there. Apparently, according to a letter that has been sent to the homeowner, the garden will be removed by the council following, wait for it, 1, yes 1, complaint. Most people that have been interviewed regarding the garden have all said that the council should spend money on the important things.
  11. Am I the only person totally annoyed at Mike Johnson? How is it legal for him to keep running to the orange one for advice etc and doing whatever the orange one says? Is Mike Johnson just a puppet? How can he simply say that he Iis not going to bring a bill to the floor for a vote?
  12. I thought we had a problem with the way our police keep catching teens and arresting them. They go to court and are freed on bail (which is nothing but I promise to show up at my future court date) and then go and break the law again. Arrested again and freed again on bail. I heard on the news to day that the government is going to begin trialling (trialling!) ankle bracelets in Australia starting in June this year I think it was. Don't know why you would trial them. Just start using the bloody things. My daughter and her partner were driving back from Broken Hill and were cut off by a driver turning from the right hand lane across their path into the very same turnoff that they were taking. That driver then got out and abused them for nearly causing a crash and that they should be more aware of other drivers. My daughter let fly as she does not hold back sometimes. "We are not in your country, we are in Australia. What you did is not how we drive over here. It was illegal." Answer? "I don't care! You should be watching other cars!" Apparently, he needs to be watched, but he does not need to watch. My daughter stood on our driveway regaling me with this tale and ended with, "I like meeting different people dad, but if they are going to keep coming to Australia and then try to turn it into the country that they just left? There's the door. F### off right back to where you came from." There is something going on and I can't put my finger on it, but there are a great many instances of people using the justice system in the country they are in to essentially skip out on whatever is hanging over their heads. The problem then becomes the country that decides to take them in. How did these people ever learn that they could do this and get away with it? I can't believe that it fosters good political ties if it keeps happening between two countries. One country who wants to put someone through their legal system so a victim gets some sort of justice, and the other country who says you can stay here so you don't have to go through that. The article further up, how can someone afford to fight in court for twenty years? There can't be that many different avenues that you could keep trying to go to, is there? Another country should not have to 'be nice' to you if you are escaping from some crime you committed in another country.
  13. @Nickg333 Different car, but the same safety assist system I presume. My Skoda (pronounced Schkoda) Fabia has Lane Keep Assist. The Owners Manual clearly states that the LKA system will intervene if you do not use the indicator to change lane. So even if there are no other cars, the LKA system will try to drag you back into the lane if you don't indicate. The system is not always on. I presume that it sometimes has not been able to get enough data points to be able to safely initiate the system. I have noticed that it sometimes is on even when the adaptive cruise control is not on. Rare though. The one bug with the adaptive cruise control is when a car is in the lane beside you, but is in front of you and then indicates and slows to turn, the brakes intervene and begin to brake the car. If you know it is coming, you can easily override it. Just need to be aware I suppose.
  14. Bloody hell. Ship's captain is going to be in strife I would suggest, unless the ship has had some sort of major mechanical malfunction.
  15. You might also find some useful information on http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EOtherstuff/Models.html
  16. I don't know why the climate change protesters are so worried at the moment? If Putin keeps up his crap and things go nuclear, a bunch of different places would be stuffed within an hour, the whole planet could be stuffed in 12 months so it just won't matter with starvation getting everyone else after about 2 years, from the info that I can find. Even if you have a fallout shelter, unless you are set up to last at least who knows how long underground. That info I can't find. The idea of the atmosphere catching alight was posited in Oppenheimer. They were only talking about 1 nuclear bomb. If it all goes pear shaped, we are talking about thousands of bombs with most of those being larger than the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. I wonder what would happen then? How much air can be superheated without an atmospheric fire becoming a possibility? I need a different hobby. This one is just sad.
  17. What could this mean for Lotus after having gone down the all EV path as well?
  18. On Netflix I think, might have Morgan Freeman in it, but if you decide to watch The Ritual Killer, don't say I didn't warn you. Woeful.
  19. I was thinking more along the lines of people would be able to say: "I've got to stop and fill up the dam car again." (get it?) Why doesn't someone make all horizontal surfaces from efficient solar cells. Since cars can be made with airflow through the body of the car, why not funnel the moving air past fans connected to small motors that assist with electricity to the battery. Instead of the souless front end that you see on cars like Teslas, have a grill again and have the air serve two purposes. 1) Again, like the airflow through the car, through fans in the now functional grill area to assist with charging. 2) Airflow across the battery or drive motors to keep them cool. You've already got regenerative braking. I presume that functions on declines as well, where the cruise control slows the vehicle so that it doesn't speed? Induction panels built into the roads at traffic lights. A system that functions like an automatic toll road hoozywotsit and you get a bill at the end of each month with your charge amount. You have the ability to EASILY turn the function off though if you do not need to use it. i.e Nipping down to the shops and then home again. If an iPhone can charge wirelessly, I'm quite certain it could be done with cars. May not even have to be buried in the road. Build it into freeway barriers and your car charges as it passes through a zone. I'm just not sure of the effect on your health from travelling through induction fields.
  20. What about if someone made a hydro-electric car? That could fill up at either hydrgoen or electric outlets. I'm a solver. There is no charge. <also posted in the hydrogen thread>

  22. How can an election denier and someone who is in constant contact with the Orange One (we shall not speak his name. apologies to J.K.Rowling) be the Speaker of The House? This is a genuine question as from what I have seen online, many have said that Mike Johnson will not bring the latest Ukraine and border bill to the floor for vote because ala Orange has said that he wants to sort out the border when he gets back into office? And if he doesn't? That'll just leave the Ukraine swinging in the breeze for many months unless I don't understand American politics? https://www.politicususa.com/2024/03/07/mike-johnson-trump-puppet.html
  23. Isn't that false advertising? Anyway, we can make mistakes over here with our democratic process as well. We get politicians whose waist size is greater than their IQ. But surely, the USA public won't get fooled into voting Trump in? Does he still get manufacturing of gear that he sells made overseas in the 'cheaper' labour markets? One of his supporters was asked that when Trump kept banging on about bringing jobs back into the USA. Supporters answer? "Well, that's just smart business." So it's do as I say, not do as I do. The guy 'allegedly' incited a riot for cryin' out loud.
