College.... hmmm never went. But I almost remember High school, of course that was 18 years ago.

Found my Esprit, but due to family issues, money went to other things :(

I guess I just have to wait for a while.

Congatulations mate-you've done well to make it the whole hog!

Proper jobs, no more 'This Morning' and Income Tax from now on!

Milk it while it lasts brother and remember there are few other environments similar!

I went through it three times and became a teacher! Which i don't recommend - but my Nan was well proud seeing me in a silly hat+cape!

Dropped out of school in the final year. Too hard.

Joined the defence forces to help kill the enemy (and fix planes). After I joined they said that (back then) Australia didn't have any enemies - Bugger. :o

Left forces after 15 years (got bored - no one to shoot at) - got a real job and bought my Esprit.

What were we talking about here again... :P

I think a lot of people hate college-it's all a test and there will only be yourself and that photo of you in silly hat to celebrate your pyrrhic victory, long after the hangovers!!

Keep it real, enjoy the enjoyable bits and jump through the hoops for the academics-give them a run for their money as they get it too easy 99% of the time-you never stop learning wether we like it or not!

i never attended classes apart from exams. had to work full time to pay for it all. everything i know i learned outside of college. higher education is the biggest ripoff ever.

Teigan,

You are a character i'll give you that!

No one handed me a free education as this and previous governments phased out the go get pished up for three years at the tax payers expense before i embarked on my first degree!

I worked my nuts off just for the pursuit of 'adding value' to my meagre qualifications. They taught me nothing i didn't know already, but i learned a lot - even if it was that the education industry is a rip off business - but what isn't?

I think they refer to it as facilitating higher learning now??

Hence my comment about giving the academics a run for their money! I went into it after 10 years in the 'real world' first and to be fair they weren't ready for me even though they were happy to take my hard earned - but i learned how to jump through hoops!

Keep smiling mate.

By the way for those friends across the pond - 'This Morning' is a rather sick daytime television programme hosted by a rather obese daughter of an ex-politician i think, and a grey haired chap whose sexuality is questionable and once played Joseph in 'His technicolour dreamcoat'.

Programme is said to have a 'high student following' as they are waking and baking around the time it starts!

Before above-mentioned hosts took on the show it was hosted by 'Richard and Judy' Sainsbury's thief and nervous alcoholic so i hear; again loved by tax dodgers!

I wouldn't know as i would play Super mario Kart instead as everyone knows TV rot's your mind.

I hope that helps.

All of the important skills for life and career I've learned outside of college. I don't miss the exams and I no longer have dreams of forgetting to take an important class or exam.

I wish I knew then a fraction of what I know now.

I actually had fun in school.

Rather with a uncertain future upon leaving a place one had grown used to and the social enviroment that is unlike any other. I still miss it at times.

But the working world is not a bad place either. Just another phase of life.

As far as the working world when intervieiwing people for positions a college transcript and degree does give a good indication that the person is trainable and has the ability to learn and absorb processes. I tend to hire people with real life experiences over people straight of school.

Good luck,

Calvin

WEll I learned a lot from college actually. Learn how to program in different computer languages and how to use that in the real world. I am planning to take my Masters next year.. so I better study for the Masters Exam.

College isn't all that bad. I mean sure its one hell of a long time but still it is educational.

How can u forget all the drunk american girls getting naked for you and drinking beer bongs, and shotguns!

See college isnt all that bad (except finals week!)

Being a computer science/mathematics major, I did enjoy computer languages, compiler construction, and digital design. However, college/university still doesn't prepare you for the real working world; at least it didn't then.

I graduated from UCLA. My real love is languages (the ones people speak), linguistics, and photography, but computer science was something I knew I would enjoy, be good at, and actually make money.

I suppose college should've been a fun time with lots of friends and parties, that type of thing, but for those four years I had no friends and couldn't tell you the name of even one person that was there. Parties or naked chicks were not part of my world.

i think the world should embrace nudity. it would simplify everything. the only thing i'd miss are pockets. but on the upside, women can't claim to be at a disadvantage.

There's not much I hate more than languishing here in UC Riverside. Gave up the Mechanical Engineering field after getting some job experience and finding that it wasn't really what I'd hoped for in general.

Led to a lack of motivation which led to an overindulgance in the partying lifestyle (though overwhelmingly lacking in naked chicks, to my dismay) and a depressing amount of depression in my life, which led me to nearly getting kicked out of school (twice) and general self destructive behavior.

Took some time to figure out what I really wanted to do- actually I never found out, turns out all I know about myself is that I need to be the boss! :D hence my transfer to the business department... I have a few ideas for enterprises that I may someday initiate, among them a "make your own porno" studio, a thinly veiled attempt to allow semi-legal prostitution like activities, the logistics of which I have thus far worked out to a scary degree. All I need are employees :( Anyone up for it?

Though lately school has been fairly depressing to me (being forced to give up my earlier more liesurely lifestyle in favor of doing things like ignoring studying, and spending too much time on internet forums). I really wish I had more initiative or at least some real goals or vision, I can only hope this college shit pays off in the long run.

Said way too much about myself, emotional window open too far. Will shut up.

Our friends in the UK and Canada may be forced to grow their own fur coats then :D

I have enough leg hair I one day hope to weave it all together and add a zipper and never have to wear pants again.

I think most people would never be as meticulously clean for that lifestyle. The staining factor would be less than appealing in a world full of nudists. I'm meticulously clean though. You have to be when you go commando.

i envision stainless steel cities, that have cleaning sprinklers and integrated drainage. furthermore, you only imagine things to be clean now. we never know what we're sitting on. could be a germ, or even a german. johann is not at all comfortable.

I'm hearing ya - and Slade depression isn't fun in fact it's really quite depressing :D

But opening the emotional window even if it is in cyberspace under a pseudonym isn't a bad thing and much can be therapeutic.

Modern approaches to deal with depression by western medicine and pharmacology scares the sh*t out of me and i have in the past used any alternate means necessary and available; to no avail i might add.

Joining this forum when in need of advice re:esprit taught me a great deal about the humanity and compassion of fellow man (owner) and that made me happy as i'd all but given up on that.

Sometimes it's just good to talk bollo*ks and sometimes it's good to read a good book, or write one! Whatever makes the blues go away and preoccupies the mind.

I don't chase the dream anymore - i just live the dream!

Keep smiling my friend-it's all good Karma :(:P:P:P:D:D

You missed the best part of college.

Although the movie Animal House was puffed up a bit, there were some real life basis for the characters and situations.

I consider social functions and the networking of people are important as studies. A good balance is needed.

I know a lot of very smart and academically superior individuals who end up with very good jobs, but in many cases end up working for intellectually inferior people with superior people skills and who are networked extremely well.

I spent my first year of univeristy taking the piss out of the medics for being stuck there for five years!

I spent my last year at university telling them they were all lucky bastards as they still had two more years left!

I really miss it and more than anything I miss the people

I've got a feeling college is going to turn into one of those things I'll wish for in retrospect. Like High School. I hope not. :P Ideally right now I wish I was in Kindergarten again.

And not only for the chicks! :D

Thanks for all that Roger... as for the medication, they had me on that in middle school and I had to stop taking it (against doctors wishes). Made me feel floaty and fake, happy maybe, but it's not worth it if it inhibits your very being. Not going that route again.

I figure I've made too much progress on myself to give up on me now, even if I've got a lot more work to do. Might as well ride this all out.

As for writing a book I've always got my erotic Hoff fan fictions! :(

Book sounds good maybe Hoff meets Village People, set in Stainless multi-storey Cipralex Carbomazipan hallucinegenic shower scene with space aliens in esprit space craft and that?

Never give up on a good thing my friend and i'm there if you need to just kick off and shoot the sh*t.

If you are thinking a year ahead...sow seed,

If you are thinking ten years ahead...plant trees,

If you are thinking 100 years ahead...educate the people.

(I did brother man - it damn near killed me and it got dark for a while-but now i'm in the light and it was something as simple as a Supercar Forum - if ever that was simple?)

Keep the dreams alive and live the dream.
