Giugiaro turbo trouble

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My 1985 Turbo is hesitant under gradual progression up through turbo boost. I know that timing is good, valve clearnacees are OK, vacuum circuit works, there are no air leaks, the turbo spins OK and hasn't got damaged rotors, there are no fuel pipe blockages and the fuel pressure regulator is good.

I think it's a fuel delivery problem as I've had stuff come through from the tanks and my fuel pump is audible (even to the extent that you can hear it pulse when indicating). The fuel tanks are now clean but I've removed a filter that was installed pre-pump but I'm left with two sections of hose that are joined with a copper tube insert which may also be restricting fuel pressure.

Anyone any thoughts?

HT leads or plugs?

One of my leads broke down internally (inside the spark plug boot/

cover) and it was only really noticeable when i floored the throttle...

:)

Hadn't thought of that. Worth adding to the list of bits to check. Thanks.

My car had the same syptoms. I found the idle mixture adjustment screws were dirty. After cleaning them the car ran fine. You may also want to check the idle progression holes to see if they are clean, they can cause the same problems. To see the idle progression holes just remove the large screw by the idle mixture screw. Under it you will find 6 holes if any of them are dirty it will cause an off idle bog.

Cheers Jim
