I've seen the car, its in pretty good nick and the engine number is 2.2HC DEV30. its not the original engine, i rekon the colour suits it.

numbers embossed into engine arent a prove that the engine is still the development engine which it should be.

internals could have been replaced with standard ones.

also the car has not a valid MOT, cambelt is worn (so cant be driven away, even not with trade plates)...it looks nice outside...so everything is about the price.

this is the car that was recently on ebay in bathgate...

looks like it has been moved to the midlands, then offered for sale again. FS plate shows it is local to the Edinburgh/West Lothian area.

do you have in mind for how much it was sold recently, when it was sold and post the "old" ebay item number?

so whats about the story "is sold for a friend living overseas"?

thats the old advert...sold for 750pound...and,here it comes:

the "old" seller said "i have replaced cam belt"....and the "new" advert says : cambelt is worn

the "old" seller said: headling needs replaced and new otter switch for cooling fans ....nothing mentioned in the "new" advert..so we can consider this as "not done"

Just some info, re old and new advert/seller:

the new seller/old buyer was from the USA, he collects Loti and probably has the American "matching numbers affliction " that is prevalent on that continent, so with a colour change and non original engine number added to the costs of shipping and the UK transport costs he deemed it not suitable to his requirements.He bought the car blind, taking a punt as it were.

The "development engine" was supplied by a known Lotus specialist, there is documentation to back this up.

The "new" cambelt wasn't very new at all, showing wear on the back and some nasty nicks in it, It took a day to get it running: dizzy nasties,siezed fuel pump and gummed up carbs I believe the list included and change a rotten door beam. The engine sounded strong, ran well and had decent oil pressure/no smoke.

The car was listed on his behalf by his UK friend/contact and the second listing was genuine, I back up my previous statement that it is in pretty good condition and I thought the colour suited it. Had it been an Elite, I'd have been interested in it.......Eclats look like chopped Elites in my eyes

I just felt a bit of air needed clearance around this car.... there's nothing funny going on

is this the resprayed green) eclat currently listed as an eclat / excel on ebay. which the car definitely is not. rather misleading to ebay purchasers who may not know the difference. it is the car and it must be in breach of ebay listing policy as the description is misleading.

I beleve the buyer was another overseas person , clearly the sale has fallen through, As for it being advertised under the header of Eclat/Excel I dont see the problem, the idea being (I'm guessing here) to bring the listing up if either Eclat or Excel are searched. at least its not a proton or isuzu bighorn being advertised under Lotus.

Still rekon its a nice car
