Welcome to the "ELITE" world Jason, I am sure you will enjoy owning the car, mine has been nothing but spend, spend, spend, but I would nt change it, the response and looks from the british motoring public is fantastic....... even young kids and hoodies smile and wave !!!!!!!!!!!!! My car has been to GPS at Newmarket and has come out today running wonderfully, everybody I have met and spoken to have all said how great gerald is .... they are not wrong.

Anyways enjoy and maybe we will meet sometime thumbsup.gif

I've been following this thread and I'm glad that, despite all the scepticism and a few negative comments, you took the plunge, went to see the car and bought it.

I remember the feeling I got when I first drove my Excel home. Brilliant! And I still get excited about washing it, let alone driving it.

I hope you have many years of motoring bliss in your Elite. Glad to see it went to a good home.

Daryl

GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOU CAME HOME SAFE.

what did the seller say when you confrontated him with the prove that its an s1 car, didnt you try to discuss about the price?

most positive: a galvanized chassis fitted. by the way: any pictures?

the top end rebuilt is positive, but the bottom end could suffer from that. so keep an eye.

from my expirience an engine should be rebuilt complete and not half.

As long as your happy thats what matters. P.S. I like it nice colour etc. I'd like S1 wheels and instruments on my S2.2. Could you imagine what they would say on this forum!

Guys - thank you very much for the warm welcome and advice. As I work abroad a lot I am having to entrust the work that needs doing on the car to specialists, so it is great to get your input on who is good etc. Interior is first on the list and as I am back in the uk next week I will be looking to get it done asap. Looked on a number of websites and it does appear pretty simple. Keeping the leather seats but having them recommissioned and trying for original/authentic look with everything else. Will post some before and after shots of the work. The before shots are truly disturbing ;-)
