I must say that I am being torn between the G and the S cars... but here is one on ebay that I like...

Let me know what you think. I called the owner (owner of dealership) he has only had it 6 months, but he said everything works, only needs paint buffed out or might need respray (not sure) New tires, new carbs.

Please give opinions even if they are bad.

I would really like a 89.5 or newer Stevens, but I just can't make up my mind....

Help.

Found my Esprit, but due to family issues, money went to other things :(

I guess I just have to wait for a while.

Not a bad looking car, but

Non- original wheels detract IMO and would prefer the original Speedlines.

Those 4 pipes are dead hokey :P

Like the Euro spec Dellorto carbs(more power than if it was on the original Strombergs), but if your state has smog inspection it probably wont pass. :(

Pretty cheap at the $7000 its at now :P

I kind of liked the wheels, thought it looked good on the car.

Pipes can be removed

No Smog check... I don't even have Cats on my '97 Land Rover.

What would this car be worth in your opinion...?

wtf with the bumper... looks like a homemade Euro conversion.

Still though, looks clean. Actually looks really good. (specially the interior, minus those awful speakers)

circumcize the tailpipes.

Like the wheels better than the speedlines, but get some wolfraces B)

Hey that looks really clean. I love the Gcars. I would really like to see better pics of those wheels.

S2s are damn beautiful....

Get a G-car. You wont be disappointed...

Whoever picks that up should take better pics. I wish I had some extra cash...

Okay, having just purchased an S2 (after wanting one for the better part of my life)...in a manner that I just completely fell into...trust your gut. If a stevens one you want - get it.

All the various Lotus Buying suggest drive 3 or 4, never buy the first one you driive, wait for the best you can afford, etc, etc....well we the US don't have quite the per capita vs. Esprit ratio. The first Lotus I drove, let alone sat in while moving - I bought. The right car will come to you.

As far as this S2 goes:

Agree - the tailpipes need a snipping.

The color and wheels somehow go together well.

If you paint it - paint it white with black int/trim and add wolfrace wheels.

Otherwise a fine looking car.

I agree with the above comments and it does look as though it's been cared for at some point of its life looking at those braided hoses under the engine cover. The only concern is when that was. Has the recent owner let the maintainance slip? It certainly doesn't look so. Is there no speacialist in the area whom you can pay to look at the car? Will the seller accept inspections? If not, forget it. If yes, get one done, if you have time before the auctin finishes.

Sounds like you got regrets. I wouldn't, your car looks great  I love brown on anything from the 70s, and your car is more than paint deep :P

Besides, you can always paint it white and add wolfraces :P

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE my 'brown' S2...I always dreamed about a white s1 but it was never the right car for me (too many repairs)...the S2 fixed all those things and I just left myself open to what the world offered.

I still can't believe I own one. And the color is so cool and unique for an Esprit. How cool is that!

I don't plan on painting it or adding wolfrace - it's so clean and stock as is. I just wish it wasn't raining here - I NEED/WANT/DESIRE to drive her more.

Again...no regrets (I am so pleased with my purchase)!

Nope, I didn't even get to bid.... was going to put a bid of 9k (could have gone more, but had a slight finicial set back and had to pay out 10k for some medical issues for my Wife.... God I love her...., then I just picked her up a new 2006 Chrysler Town and Country.... Cause that is what she wanted. So my Esprit will have to wait a couple more months.....

Joey -

Hurry up and get a car! :D Maybe by summer? There are an S2 and another S1 in Ohio besides my two cars, plus two S1s in Erie, Pa. You need to get a car, and we need to hold a little regional gathering of S1/S2s! (DomG, are you listening, and how far from Erie or Cleveland are you?)

By the way, Joey, I'm guessing that was you who signed my web site guestbook a while back - Thanks! :D Before I bought my first one (the red one), I checked out several cars, and spent some time "getting to know" early Esprits in depth, thanks to the other two owners in Cleveland. If you wish to do the same, you are welcome to make the trip up here this spring.

Regards,
