Relay?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

In the engine bay bolted to the inner wing opposite the oil filter, is a relay of some kind. Does anyone know what it is for??????????? I am also looking for the relay that controls the headlamp solenoids if anyone knows where that is?

It is a three prong relay one permanent live, a green wire and a blue & red both of which disappear into the loom going towards the headlights. It says "Mitsuba" on it with no other numbers at all. I have attached pictures to see if you guys can identify it!

What I have there on my '78 502 is the cooling fan relay. I had to change it as part of my recommissioning, since it had got water in it and corroded, with the result that the cooling fan wouldn't kick in. When I replaced it, the SJ's chap said there were square ones and round ones. Mine was round.

Regards the air con thing, my car did originally have air con, but I thought the relay was there any way, just uses 3 wires instead of 5?

Does your cooling fan work? My engine steamed very quickly when it was faulty.

Herc,

The radiator cooling fan relay is the black square one on the picture up to the right. I only found this one out because my fans didnt work and I had to replace it. I am stumped as to what this other one does?

Does everything work? If so, you could disconnect the relay in question and see what stops working. Or you could join together the two wires switched by the relay and see what comes on.
