Is this waterpump belt tight enough?

Hi all, after much hassle I found a waterpump belt. I find it a bit sloppy though. As I have no reference, can you tell from the pics if this is tight enough?

My guess is it might be. When I last changed mine it was a bear to pull the pulley with belt on it back up onto the hub. Try putting a bar between two of the pump pulley bolts and see it you can rotate it freely or the belt holds it firm and prevents it from rotating.

Hi Bob, will do, thx. You took the pulley off to put the belt on? I didn't. I was wondering if I was doing things a little crude by 'forcing' the belt over the puley by turning it...

When I did mine I removed the pump pulley and I think I had to use a turnbuckle or lever with a hook through one of the holes so I could pull the pulley sideways and then line up and then push the pulley partially back onto the hub and then got the hook out of the way and pressed it fully back onto the hub and reinstalled the bolts. Maybe someone else can chime in and confirm the "official" way to do it but it worked for me in the confined space. I would not try to force the new belt up over the pulley edge. This was on my JPS S2 .

I think you're right Bob, in saying that forcing it is probably not the correct procedure. I'm curious how others do this....

Removed pulley, putting it back on I just angled it and pushed it far enough that the centre hole went over the end of the shaft, then just rotate the pulley to align with the shaft.

Remove/refit crank pulley and pump pullley together. No force required

pump belt tension looks fine to me. the pulley is only turning the water pump.
