DIY Zinc Plating .. advice needed :)

Hey guys,

Has anyone used zinc plating for any parts? I am looking into it however no company here in Malta offers this service. I'[ve also looked into getting a DIY kit however no one will post it over to Malta due to the hazardous chemicals.

I have found a local company that can supply the chemicals I need but I must give them specific amounts and mixtures for Electrolyte, make-up brightner , Dry Pickle Acid and Passivate.

was hoping someone on the forum has experience plating and could give me some advice on the specific chemicals I would need.

I take it youve tried frosts....the restoration specialists here in the uk? Im not sure about the postage situation though..worth a look.ive had many products from them over the years..

Hi Darren,

I have tried contacting a few kit suppliers and no one is willing to post it out to Malta. I have found most chemicals but I am having trouble sourcing the yellow passivate which gives the part the yellow colour.

Not having much luck though :/
