Suspension sagging

I did a search and couldn't find anything that addressed my particular problem...

The car sits half an inch lower on the driver's side that it does on the passenger's. Parked level, it looks like a fat guy's sitting in it. Is this a common problem? Can I just heat up the passenger spring to get the ride height to match the passenger side?

Thanks for the help!

Yes it's common. Heating up the spring will destroy it. Some people swap the spring to the other side to level. Or you can get new suspension with adjustable spring perches and raise the driverside about 3mm like I did.

A hundred years ago, I worked in a suspension repair place as part of my apprenticeship.

I remember that some manufacturers would make the drivers side a heavier spring as it would always be carrying the driver. (learnt the hard way of course...)

Not sure if this was the case with Lotus, but might be worth swapping if it is the passenger side that is higher.

Another cure is to cut off a 1/4 of a coil at a time with a cuttoff saw, from the higher side to drop it.

Do not heat it up as it will ruin the spring properties.

Thanks for the tips. I think if I'm going to have to pull it apart, I might as well just replace the springs. They're only a couple hundred bucks.
