Digital FM Radio

I have a normal UK/Australia coaxial wall socket outlet. It feeds the digital TV which also receives digital radio.

My Marantz receiver / amplifier has a coaxial "in" which I currently use but via this inlet I'm only getting an analogue signal. The question is what do I need to feed a digital signal into either an RCA input or optical input, I'm guessing some sort of converter / cable.

Supposedly the amp is self sensing and will recognise the digital input RCA / Optical.

Does the amp have a digital receiver? If not then you cannot receive digital radio.

BTW digital FM is an oxymoron - FM is a transmission technique for transmitting analogue radio. Digital radio is transmitted in a completely different way.

Yes it can receive "digital"?

The amp may have digital inputs (optical/co-axial) but that doesn't mean you can receive digital radio. The amp has a radio receiver inside to decode the signal received into audio. Most amps have analogue receivers caable of decoding analogue transmission via FM.

Unless the amp has a digital radio receiver in it (in the UK these are DAB and have a logo on them) then you can't receive digital radio even if the amp has digital inputs.

The digital inputs are used to receive digitally encoded audio from other devices such as CD players/TV receivers.
