Charity Race Experience Snetterton 18th Nov 2012

During the winter months you don't tend to get many big events that you can visit with your car and meet loads of like minded car enthusiasts. so when an event is available it seems only right to see if those of us who brave the winter months with our cars still on the road would like to attend and display our vehicles.

There is a charity race experience event being held at Snetterton on the 18th November 2012. This event is to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charity, as well as some event racing, people can pay to have a ride in various cars available around the Snetterton circuit, ranging from supercars to classic vehicles.

There is a website with all the information you need regarding this event: http://www.charityraceexperience.com/

I up for this event as well as a few other Lotus owners I know who are keen, so if you are interested in attending (only £5 entry fee) then lets get a list going of those wishing to attend displaying their car. No need for money up front as it's a pay on the gate event if you are just visiting or displaying, The list is for number of Lotus cars wishing to display as I will be contacting them to see about arranging display space for those on the list, which would be better than parked all over the place. I will keep you posted once I have more information.

Hope you can brave the weather and make it. Hopefully November will be mild weather. It's not the first one of this event, I've never been, but I hear it's a pretty good event with lots of excellent cars to see.

Owen,

I'm making a comeback to the fold.

I am proposing to be there giving track rides in the 7 but may have a car to display too.

Not sure what the response has been to the Lotus 7 Club appeal but they were certainly looking for exhibitors too.

I've not been to this one before but I did attend the British Heart Foundation ones when they were run about 10 years back.

Assuming Molly gets there and the rain doesn't wash the track out anyone of you is welcome to a few laps with me.

I've not done the 100 or 200 by themselves, only the 300 before (and that for only one day ... I've been pretty quiet on the car front for a couple of years).

Hi, Just thought I would let you know that an allocated space for 16 Lotus cars has been sorted with the organisers of the event. At this moment in time I don't know were the plot is, but nearer the time everyone showing an interest in this thread will be contacted. Hopefully it will be near the Lotus 7 owners club. We have room for a gazebo as well.

Looking forward to this event.

Any news Owen ?

The L7C stand is number 14.

Not sure how many cars will turn up as they didn't want us for track rides ... well, they never bothered to answer our applications or E-mails and then subsequently have posted that they are full on track.

At the Angel last month I spoke with a chap who marshalled in the pits last year and said the management was rather autocratic and poorly organised.

Went to this last year and had a ride in Tony Gilham's GT3RS, must have been one of the fastest combonations there that day. Will be attending again this year on the EALC club display. It,s a good day out looking around a variation of cars and chatting to the owners. This year looks to have grown a bit with a few more displays. Hope the weather is kind.

Thanks for the message Owen.

From your description I think the our area is the fenced in bit (usually reserved for disabled spectators) passed the Russell toilet block, and overlooking the race collection area.

If so we will have a decent view of the cars exiting Corum and going through Russell (or whatever disagreeable name they've now changed it to).

If this area is reserved for just 16 cars there is ample room for doughnuts too !!

Owen et al,

If anyone reads this before tomorrow morning I've run into a snag with my second driver ... he can't make it.

I've hatched a plan to get the 7 there as early as possible and then get Cathy to pick me up and take me to Diss to get the Turbo.

However, it is highly unlikely I will be back before 9 at the earliest.

Can someone arrange to save a space for me in the Lotus park please?

Cheers,

Nifty.

Not a hope now, as it's frosty and I'm feeling a little lazy so not taking the 7 up until 8.30am, so will get picked up at 9ish and will return around 10ish.

A good day out yesterday - well organised event, good crowds, should have raised quite a bit for the charity.

A good selection of Lotuses on the stand - Elises (S1 & S2), a brace of Excels, an Elan, a Europa (modern version), several Esprits (4 cylinder and V8), and an Evora.

And of course, on track, the new Exige V6, which, having been for a ride round the circuit in it, I can certify is awesome.

Hope the guys in the orange S2 Exige are OK after the ambition/talent equation went wrong and the car can be repaired.

If I can work out how to resize photos, I will post some!

Enjoyable day, thanks for sorting out the pitch Owen.

Some interesting vehicles there, especially the two lovely red Elan S4s and the Sprint doing the 100.

I bet those taking a ride in the Murcielago were a bit cheesed off dawdling around - the chap had no confidence / experience - would have been far better as a static display.

Loved the Mk1 Escort coming out of Russell (Murray) on oversteer every time

Hi, I've uploaded my photos from the day which can be seen here. I must be slacking, I took lots of photos during the day and totally forgot to take one of my own car on the Lotus stand!

Anyone who has a picture of my car at the event I can have a copy of I would be most appreciated. The only problem with photos this time of year are the tall shadows. you have to be so far back so you don't get your shadow in the picture.
