thats good news Eric, bet you cant wait to be back on the road

Good work that man!

What's next? :P

rebuilding the transmission now.

adding Quaife LSD

adding "GTO engineering upgraded shaft & upgrade gears"

**I have photos of them, but I don't know if GTO engineering wants me to post them.

but if anyone plans to purchase GTO engineering's 5-speed kit, and wants to see the parts first before making decision. You may PM to me, and I will send the photo to your email.

now, I found out I need to replace some ball bearings of the gearbox, but I cannot get reply from SJ Sportscars UK in these few days.

anyone knows what's going on with Steve? is he on vacation?

Investigate REM Isotropic Superfinishing - Given the sums of money involved, the added cost is negligible and the gains are tremendous.

I will definitely be getting any replacement gearbox on mine so treated. :P

See here

[update]

I just called their place in Sandy, Bedfordshire and he estimated that the cost of treating a gearbox with 10 shafts (etc) was

Yes and no - for a satrt it will reduce the internal stresses and friction so that will place (slightly) less stress on the bearings...

HOWEVER!

When I go down this route (on the Citroen Box) it will be coupled with replacing the standard bearings with the most high precision German bearings money can buy.

I don't know if there are very high quality, compatible components you can substitute but I would imagine there are.

I have read reports on ISF that claim a 60-100% strength increase and 100% life increase!

Even if it's only half that, for

Thx for the input, Evil Dr Fish..

unfortunately, those french ball bearing (Renault) is in odd dimension.

my mechanic has visited the largest bearing shops (HK bearing company & Kowloon bearing company) which are very famous to supply bearings for all industries (including my own plastic injection factory)

and no. they don't carry french bearings...and they don't have anything Italian or Germany or Japan to fit either...

and now, we are trying to get helps from Renault HK dealership and Renault France.

hopefully we get some good news in the coming week... (I am not able to order the ball bearing for the secondary shaft front...)

I personally am contacting GTO racing to see if they carry some parts... finger-crossing....

no luck with Renault HK, and don't bother Renault France.

they refuse to help without a car serial no. (a Renault car, that is)...

so I decide to purchase a whole assembly "CROWN WHEEL AND PINION" so that I can get that new bearing

I DEFINITELY intend to do this to my gearbox when I replace / rebuild it.

Give them a call - the chap I spoke to was hugely helpful and more than happy to talk about the process / explain it - they do a lot of work for Racers - I'm told that's in part, how they get their ridiculously high redlines :)

There's also something along the lines of Cryogenic Treatment but I know *nothing* about that nor who does it.

Managed to get some of the engineering reports off the internet

This process makes perfect engineering sence to me. looking at upgrading the gearbox when i finally get mine back on the road next year.

you'll have to keep us posted about your treated gearbox.

when do you plan to do this by the way??

have you tried GTO engineering in the uk. From what I read they have a lot to do with this box. Perhaps they can supply the bearings for you???

Surely a lot cheaper than forking out for a complete crown assy.

Stuart.

I'm hoping to get a NEW :) citroen box before the end of the year... have it rebuilt with said process and with HiPrecision Deutsche bearings and then fit it in the first couple of months of 07?
