Early V8 Federal Exhaust

Don't suppose anyone has a picture of a cutaway view showing the internals of an early US V8 side exhaust.  I'm sure I've seen a pic of a cut open exhaust box and the pipes simply cross over and exit out the back vs actually dumping the exhaust gas into the center body and then out the pipes.

I think the standard box pipes outlet into the box & the sports exhaust crosses over with perforations in the tubes
