What's this wire on the negative?

Recommended Posts

I guess asking this question proves I shouldn't think of performing an install myself!

Planning future weight reduction... what's the two wires going to the negative on the battery? I kind of expected one but there's two that then connect together before connecting to the battery terminal.

Not knowing the Exige, but one may be a body earth strap with the other going to the vehicle electrics?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Is it possible it is a direct connection to the jump connector under the front access cover?  I suppose if that were the case there would be one off the positive too, so I'm probably wrong.

The thick black cable connects to the main chassis  (earth) post located on the left-side of the engine bay.

The braided cable connects from the battery negative to the ECU mounting plate - adjacent to and forward of the battery within the boot compartment.

Section MV11 of the Service Notes for detail.
