Engine Work Incorrectly! Please Help Me!

Recommended Posts

I have had more problems about my turbo boost....so my friend Jonathan tell me some thing to check (solenoid, connectors, and....... )

In the afternoon I have re connected the Solenoid, reconnected others connectors and I went out with the car for check if there were news

After few miles I have seen that my car go very wrong under 2.500rpm : it jerk and the engine work very strange

This do when the car is under rpm (about 1.500/2.000rpm), I accelerate and the car jerk some thing like not enough fuel !!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I decelate and I'm stop to a traffic light, the car go under <rpm (also 500rpm!!!!), the all car jolt along and will light the engine tell tale (yellow light) and freescan show me the faults ERROR 44 of oxygen sensor, was some time down to 900 and the Engine responding very strange!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after few seconds the car by itself (without accelerate), go to 1,200rpm and this is very very strange and it's the first time that have this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was very happy for my car because I had a fluid accelerate and however when it's stopped it not did any strange thing or jerk expecially when it was to 1.000 always so regular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The engine tell tale (yellow light) and the fault 44 showed me in the freescan only when the car was to lower rpm infact when I reset the ecu and restart and I go up to 3.000 I have NO problems but if I go slow and the car go down 1.500rpm the light will on the again the fault show me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT YOU THINK????

Now go back home I wanted see the new logs of this evening and seen the wastgate DC's value I have seen a value of 37 but the second.injector value is always to 0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wait your answer

Very thanks

Alessandro

Ignore Wastegate DC and secondary injectors these are not important for the symptoms you describe. You a issues with these as well from earlier logs I have seen.

It sounds a bit like fuel starvation and or misfire, Code 44 is lean and can be triggered by misfire or stall.

Idle BLM cell might give some indication of the fueling. Could have split hose on the manifold side, or to the fuel pressure reg, hole in the MAP sensor line will mess up the fueling.

I suspect you have multiple problems and many of them interact with each other which makes remote fault finding very very difficult. I known this is perhaps not what you want to hear but I drive the car accross Europe to the best Esprit specialist you can find. I think your car would benefit from a major checkover buy someone who really knows these cars inside out. Otherwise I worry that you will be chasing these problems for months or years and never get to enjoy the car you hope you bought.

Marcus / PUK ....this is his area of speciality but before you drive to Germany. He might be able to locate the fault or at least get you to do a couple of tests to resolve the problem........ Contact him by email....

I can only think of a few Lotus specialist...those that have done esprits.....forget France although there are supposed to be a couple of self claimed Lotus specialist one in Cannes and one in Lille ..other then that you could try some garage in Belgium (forgot the name/outside of Brussels)..as for Italy....havent heard of a specialist....maybe you could PIM Kato to ask the guys at Lotus, Hethel for a phone number or to enquire direct for a suitable specilaist nearest to you?

Where abouts in Italy are you based?

Hi All,

I already had some email correspondence with Allessandro and IMHO its either ...

- faulty O2-sensor

- faulty MAP-sensor (maybe just a split or fallen off hose ... the manifold pressure hose goes to several places and its very likely that somewhere it became dislodged)

Of course I also sent him the 50MB workshop manual for learning section EMH by heart :unworthy:

Cheers

Marcus

i had a problem once that sounds allmost silimar

a faulty fuel regulator

it's on the end of the fuelline

if you pull of the black tube with running engine you must hear a vacuum sound

if petrol comes flowing out of there it needs replacement.

then it pumps (extra) fuel into cilinder 3/4 leaving 1 and 2 running very lean

So when your spark plugs on 3 and 4 are black and those on 1 and 2 are white check the fuel regulator

greets Rens

researche is something i do when i don't know what the hell i'm doing

Alessandro has been having all sorts of problems over the past 2-3 weeks - the wastegate solenoid was an issue before with the Code 26a/b coming up (quad driver) and having no boost at all and zero DC on freescan when running at high RPM / load. He's definatly had / having boost issues which was the prob before this new one cropped up !

I would suggest sending Dermot the freescan logs - some of the values are crazy for a split second, the voltage more noticably erratic.

His car has flagged up just about every fault which was coming on and off - I suggested the car might have got dry contacts as it has stood still for long periods of time (the old, drive it or lose it situation) so I think Alessandro has cleaned the contacts on a few connectors and it seems to have gone away.

Again I would strongly suggest sending out the freescan logs, the O2 sensor is going from 0.004 to 0.444 in 1 step and this rings true of other sensors in the engine bay.

My inital concern is the voltage which fluctuates by as much as 3-4 volts sometimes in rapid spikes and that can't be doing the battery / electric much use. The car runs closed loop and then open for no apparent reason either.

IMO it might be worth getting the alternator checked out to see if there is any damage to the slip rings or whatever as I know the previous mechanic who looked at this before commented on it.

MAP sensor reports in fine btw.

you are totally right I wish I could take it to some specialist, I have had to change very sensor and many other things to make it work right It seems I
