  1. Hi Lutz Great work so far! Join the engine and box then sling in from underneath, needs to go in at angle so good idea to protect the chassis with thin rubber to prevent damage. Fitted my engine a couple of weeks ago with the body off too. I fitted with all the auxillary equipment like carbs, alternator, starter, pulleys etc off the engine. Cheers Dave
  2. Pete had my head for 6 months, took constant calls and chasing with endless excuses before I got it back, crippled my project progress but back on track now. As previously stated he is now a one man band and is very busy, he does do a good job if you are not in a hurry and take his delivery dates with a pince of salt....
  3. I have been after front branded tyres for a while, Dunlop, pirelli etc no longer manufacture either size. I have sourced a brand new old stock Dunlop front tyre but still searching. All the UK suppliers can only offer new Nankang or Falken tyres at present. Not looking good for the long term future so I am hoping when the new Slot mag Wolfrace wheels are produced they will supply in 100PCD as i will buy a 15" set for everyday use. Anyone know where to get a couple of branded 205 60 14 tyres? Cheers Dave
  4. Hi Gavin Yes M12 x 1,5mm pitch, I think I have some old ones if you want them, they will need re-plating though. Cheers Dave
  5. Hi Paul Got my door cards back today, still got to fit the chrome trims and cut out the handle area which I will do when I start installing back in the car. How are you getting on with the carpet? Cheers Dave
  6. Hi Al I will turn out the horn push and PM you over the weekend. Cheers Dave
  7. Hi Al Here is the pic as requested, I need to find the Lotus wheel Horn push which is in the loft with all my badges and trim. Cheers Dave
  8. Hi Al I have an boss with a wheel, the boss will allow you to fit any wheel like momo etc. I will turn it out and send you a pic Cheers Dave
  9. I used a cobalt drill to remove the stud then opened up to the helicoil size, tapped it out and fitted the helicoil. I did use heat before starting the drilling as you can quickly produce a very hard surface if it does not cut straight away. I used a Rocol cutting spray too.
  10. Cracking job Paul, Your wife could make a living doing that although I am sure she would pass!
  11. Hi Phil Mine are 8MM, yours may have been opened up though. I had to Helicoil one of mine as the thread was in poor shape. Cheers Dave
  12. WOW! That is great news, look forwards to seeing the pricelist, Should make centre caps easier to find too.
  13. I am happy to make a few once I have the information needed, they came from a MK1 Hillman Avenger Tiger originally but these owners are struggling to obtain them too. I have a glass company ready to cut the Hexagon mirror plates and I will manufacture the brackets in the machine shop. Anyone else want one let me know as I may get a batch made up.
  14. Yes it is the mirror fitted to the early S1 cars, I had one on my last S1 which I never took a mould from. I have spoken to Matt before but he sold the mould to Nick Fulcher, the mould was taken from Paul Colemans mirror. I am confident with some good pics and sizes I can make a new mould, will keep searching though..........
  15. Help! I know this subject has come up before but after one of my final parts - The S1 pod type mirror, I have contacted Nick Fulcher without any luck, does anyone have one spare or know where I can get one even if damaged or incomplete. If not can someone give me some good pics and a few dimensions as I will make my own mould and fabricate one. I have searched online but not come up with anything correct although I have seen a few similar . Many Thanks Dave
  16. Hi Andrew Nice looking project! I have the two brackets and one good brace, I also have one brace in poor condition. Message me if you want them Cheers Dave
  17. I have managed to get hold of just over 18 metres of material, this is good as I have a spare set of seats, door cards and rear panel I can get trimmed and move on with enough green for someone to finish the other parts. Just need to talk my trimming mate around now as he is not keen. I am going to keep some spare in case I need it and so I can always change my headrests back to tartan if I need to. I should have enough left for one more re-trim. Still sorting carpets with various samples now with me, can't help thinking Lotus should have used red for the carpets though as it would match so much better, Still who am I to question the 70's styles as I was only being the same time as the Esprit!
  18. Great car Marcus I wish UK cars were more like the US finds, we suffer so much corrosion. The interior looks OK and the carpets should go again without problem, well worth the wait although would look better with UK bumpers. I will keep you updated with the Tartan Cheers Dave
  19. I bought 10 metres of green and needed another 5 to complete, the Tartan I have is only 31" wide but again I needed between 7 and 10 metres to ensure the correct square spacing etc. The match from green to tartan is 100% perfect. Paul, I guess your Tartan was from a full width roll?
  20. Just been to see my trimmer mate today........Whow! My Tartan interior is looking stunning, the seats have had all the foam repaired and are looking great with the tartan and green material applied. Once the headrests are done I will post some pics. The guy who is doing mine says it is one of the hardest jobs he has done and spent two weeks already on it, As Nick strips out and rebuilds the car after his costs are not that bad really. Paul is correct, I have sourced some Tartan which is spot on but I will let you guys judge in a couple of weeks, The material was very expensive to buy and you need alot of it. Approx 10 metres of the Tartan and 15 metres of the green have been used. The Tartan only came in half standard width though. I was short and have contacted the mill who are looking for some more as what I bought was a very old stock supply, I took it all at the time thinking I would have enough for a second car. As I am doing my headrests in green to match the Bond theme I will be OK, I was having a second set done in Tartan in case I want to change back to original standard. If the mill come up trumps I will buy all they have left so I can have some spare and let the rest go to other members, they can make more but with a Massive run only which will be extremely costly. The last run was approx 15 years ago they said. I do have some other material but it is slightly wrong dimensionally, I was going to use it though, I am in contact with other mills at present as I spend a lot of time in Scotland working. I am in the process of sorting the carpet at present, I am going to get a few sets made. I have also managed to source an Ashtray in stunning condition to finish it all off.
  21. Thanks Paul thats Ideal, I do have my originals which are OK although I was planning to renew. How different are they as I seem to remember fitting these to TNR 160R and they fitted well?
  22. Hi Guys I have contacted Spit and Polish a couple of times this week by e-mail but had no reply, Renowheel have come back with £65-£70 per wheel depending on condition. They would not discount for extra sets. The can supply the centre caps and nuts if required. I will ring Spit and Polish this week and let you all know.
  23. Yes the car was done up like a Turbo with the decals, the pic is just after me buying it. The previous owner must have gone to great expense as the interior was S3 Turbo in black and white too. He had cut off the rear body section and grafted on the Duck tail rear end, good job but it was blended in without the Turbo join line.
