  1. Im fine to meet any smegs along route...dont mind a wee diversion on the sunday morning to fall in line
  2. Thought id replied to this! Im in leamington, so a trip up with anyone driving through the mids would be good fun!
  3. My system took 700 grams of r134 as mine was completely empty. Nigel have a look on autokool.co.UK. Thats where I got it stuff from they well just about everything you need and at a decent price. The connectors for the v8 are the push on type, the hose you connect doesnt screw into them.im sure ive seen the end couplings you need for your kit there when I was looking.
  4. Ok I think guys we need a regulator solution. My r12 system has been fitted with modern valves for r134 connection by myself. My air con is running cold cold with the standard compressor and condensor. There is a lot of bad press about converting the two systems but they do work. Even the but yourself system worked for me until the condensor blew.
  5. Yes, thats just wat it feels like, although the reason im thinking fueling issues is because also upon acceleration it can do it too. So my theory was either fuel or a boost leak. im gonna try fuel first, because at the end ofthe day the pump and pressure reg are 15years old and it does no harm to ensure theyre new and well up to the task! Dealing with waste gates is a little more involved, with setting them up correctly etc.
  6. Ive done some upgrading on my s4, but am running the stAndard but new turbo. My injectors are the upgraded ones from five-o recomended by Lucas. Now im experiencing the same surging effect you describe. Im thinking personally its down to fuel pressure. So ill be fitting an updated pump and pressure regulator to see if this sorts it. Either the originals ate worn or they would not be man enough fir the fuel demand anyhow. Im a little weary of chip upgrades, themost I personally would like to do is to sort out the silly aircon on off stumble. I would in the future like to experimentation a different turbo, but dont see the point yet still the fueling issorted and ive experimented with getting more air into the engine with simple mods like porting Or a similar route as Dave has taken with his se. Have youdone any work with the chargecooler? This is a very good ate too cover and fairly simple really with good results. Darren
  7. As Dave says there are so many areas to check and because of how oil would run down te engine it can be hard determining its true origin. My s4 had a fair amount on its engine when I bought her, but I changed everything regardless which was easiest engine out. Happy to say my engine is oil tight so far :-) except the genuine filter I used seems to have a tiny glistening even though its on. As well as it can be!
  8. Yes the predictive text on the phone is doin my sweed in! Id already planned on an adjustable regulator, I was going to fit that before changing the pump to keep an eye on the pressure during driving to determine if the pump. Regulators was faulty. Decided to go the whole hog anyhow now. I was however trying to find a fuel rail adapter to fit it on the end of the rail in place of the existing unit as a more permanent solution. Failing finding one, looking at having one made. As theyre alloy surely not too difficult.
  9. I tend to be a bit of a gentle braker so maybe with my driving style the yellow stuff isnt suited
  10. Ah cheers! Ive been told good things about that illgive it a whirl!
  11. Mine are 380cc mains I think. I can remember the secondary, I think like youthey were as or near standard but a better. Pattern. Dave, I did pm you but not sure it went through im using good old phone internet at min.wish id heard from you yesterday as I ordered a pump available from merlin mortality. Think its itp744 or 344,aparantly an far one with 255ltr 80psi capabilities, obviously dependant on aplication. I did notice when looking on the five-o site the spec of the injectors are saying they run at 43.5 psi. How does this compare to standard esprit ones? Merlin motorsports not mortality, and fse pump not far!
  12. Does anyone know a way of reading what wrong with the abs system when the light comes on?
  13. The biggest injection is the passenger seat one....the missus! Jokin aside I went fir the ones recomended by Lucas from five-o mortality in America. Good reviews on them from other users. Ive. got the specs somewhere. Think I posted them on another thread I started That was meant to say objector not injector...shes not an addict! Silly phone with its special typin...
  14. Well im running the larger objectors and I think the standard pump is showing a weakness here. Question is will this be man enough with the flow rate and pressure! Im also running injectors as well as objectors
  15. Well im running the larger objectors and I think the standard pump is showing a weakness here. Question is will this be man enough with the flow rate and pressure!
  16. Does anyone know where to get a hold of the right pump to upgrade my S4 fuel pump. I have read the Walbro ones are good and have been used by people before, I obviously dont want to take the risk and purchase a seemingly good deal off ebay and find its a fake that packs up! Anyone know the right part number Im looking for and a supplier here in the UK? cheers chaps!
  17. Im running yellowstuff on my s4. Now having never experienced the standard esprit brakes before, I can day if they are better than. The lotus pads. I have brembos on mine. ebc grooved anddimpled discs. The cold usage in these pads is poor. However,, two or three usages of the brakesand theyre warmed up. Then they are quite good. Have noticed that they work better on hard braking than round town stop p start. So my verdict it still out on these.it may be because of the silly abs system on my car. So on yours it could seem wonderfull! But unfortunately they will stop you when hounded them! Sorry silly predictive text. Meant to say they will definitely stop you when you need them!
  18. Well mine does not stumble,it just a slight smooth increase and decrease almost like im gently blipping the throttle a little. Unbeliever noticed now though that it hasnt done it on my last two outings. Im thinking that there has somehow managedto loose its fuel ratio settings. Its mentioned in freescan that they can be reset to learn again, ie after modifications. I havent reset mine but it seems to h Ave done it itself.
  19. Guys I know its nearly next month, but as I missed Julys trip out id like to make the next one. Now the however Sunday turnout was exciting, that many esprits driving together was sight to behold! So, what exciting trip can we do this month.the obvious day would be bank hol, I cant do the Sunday myself as its the missuses birthday bash.anyone know of anywhere or anything going on we could crash? Another big esprit meet would be good,i know theres talk of a national esprit meet but no date yet! Come on bow put your two peneth worth in.... Darren
  20. Billing aquadrome is always a good venue, they hold club meets there often in the summer. Nice and big, facilities for the kids, camping if you fancy it or lots of hotels 5 min drive away. Gets my vote.
  21. I know this is an old thread, but Ive got the 'surging' feel on my S4, new but standard turbo, dumpvalve, upgraded injectors as Travis recomended from five-o-motorsport, ramair mod, sports cat and exhaust, upgraded chargecooler rad for better cooling and electric pump etc....did the cause of this constant on off feel be determined??
  22. Well I think someone on here has mentioned millers before...if you look on the lotusespritworld website they give a selection of approved oils to use...Id stick to those personally...go for the best you can buy. Currently Im using Mobil1 fully synthetic stuff, but Ive got the recomended castrol sport as well just incase I decide I dont like it all my other fluids are castrol as recomended...as for the power steering you probably havent got it hence the heavyish steering feel for you. Could be retrofitted, but no doubt to great expense. However, as I remember correctly there is a company who makes electric powersteering conversions for classic cars..cant remember who they were just remember reading about it a few years back in a triumph mag...parts from a fiat punto I think! But again that was a couple of grand... So, the oild wont blow you up...thats your right foot...just so long as its to the correct grade/spec neede you should be ok. Quality filter, plugs and leads and oils are needed, dont buy on price alone as it can be false economy. Brakes...well Ive got the brembos as standard, but have ebc discs and pads so I think mine are good, although the usual bad brake pedal feel is down to the silly abs setup used on these cars...I dont know what your running on yours master cylinderwise but youll no doubt have the toyota brakes which can do with improvement! There are quite a few threads on here about monster brake upgrades..are they needed? possibly..depends again on your usage and driving style! If your doing tracks then yes, average normal driving I wouldnt of thought so personally so long as the whole system works as it should..but then again as I said Im using brembos with the right discs and pads and new calipers etc. Budget and preference dictate everything Ive found! Darren
  23. The round three pin plug puzzled me too on my S4...but it looked to have never been connected to anything so dont worry about that one!
  24. Paul thanks for that I may well take you up on the offer..Ive been sent an alternative to freescan to try out..wont get chance till the weekend though. Currently fitting my new aircon rad at some point this week...gonna also try it on a non vista running laptop too incase its the temperamental vista thats being a bugger
  25. Yes, talkin to people on the supercar sunday a few mentioned espritmon....where can I get it from? One chap did get his freescan working on my car that sunday too..the dreaded code 26 was revealled...but other than that I would need to do a live data capture thingy I guess whilst driving
