  1. Hi guys, can some of you with wheel spacers on the rear post some photos or link me to some photos of pre V8 esprits with 10mm 15mm and 20mm spacers? I want to see what it makes the car look like (i know it will fill the arches and make the car look better, but HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?!) Also, where can i buy hubcentric quality spacers for the esprit?!
  2. i just bought the SE alloys off ebay, 225/50/15 fronts and 255/50/16 rears (with 20mm spacers, total 40mm rear track increase). these will replace my 195/60/15 fronts and 235/60/15 rears. from just eyeballing and feeling the room either side of the current tires lock to lock, these new tires should fit but only JUST lol....the back will be fine with the spacers (though i think it would be fine without them too!) and i think the wheels at the front left lock sees the left hand wheel MAYBE rubbing this rubber hose thing...but maybe not. will have to wait and see when they come. Do you think i will need adjustable top links for the rear (and front?) given the large rear track width increase? by my calculation, from outside edge of tire to tire originally was 1789mm (1554 + 235) and now will be 1849mm (1594 +255). literally now the wheel will nearly be as wide as the rear arches!
  3. thanks, i just bought the SE alloys off ebay, 225/50/15 fronts and 255/50/16 rears (with 20mm spacers, total 40mm rear track increase). these will replace my 195/60/15 fronts and 235/60/15 rears. from just eyeballing and feeling the room either side of the current tires lock to lock, these new tires should fit but only JUST lol....the back will be fine with the spacers (though i think it would be fine without them too!) and i think the wheels at the front left lock sees the left hand wheel MAYBE rubbing this rubber hose thing...but maybe not. will have to wait and see when they come. 4. hey john, fabulous info thanks! and everyone else too. sounds like piston slap as it has only done 49k miles...all highways miles too.
  5. its 10w 60 i cant remember the brand but its one off LEW. i topped it up a month ago but was done fully in Feb. Filter too, i thought it odd it needed topping up so soon...it didnt need very much maybe 150ml but still...i guess i could have left it, the line was stil between High and Low on the dip stick I dont follow what you mean! whats a small and big end bearing?!
  6. Hi guys, when i cold start my 89 Turbo it sounds like there is a large ball bearing rattling around (though sometimes the noise goes away for 4 or 5 seconds) until the car warms up (60-80 degrees). Then its totally gone, the white smoke stops blowing and everything seems dandy. is there something wrong? Is it just noisy cams? i heard the esprit has noisy cams... is the white smoke normal...its not blue, the turbo has been totally rebuilt recently, and when the car is warm there is no white smoke at all.
  7. Hi See the pic attached, why does this tube lead no where and what is the white thing mid way down it?!
  8. Super strange.....why is it there then!>? it must be a federal spec, thing, someone must know the answer, it must have done something at some point in the USA or uk or otherwise?!
  9. Look on the LEW page about tyres, right at the very bottom Andy Graham from lotus says anything wider than the SE 215mm fronts foul the wheels arch on full lock???? I presume that is for the eage chassis cars, of which my 88 turbo is not. So I know that the eagle chassis cars had 215mm fronts but would 215mm fronts fit my 88 turbo? (and in fact the ones I want to buy are SE RIMS but with 225 front and 255 backs!!). Seems to be conflicting info??
  10. Can my nOvember 88 (89 model year) turbo standard 15 inch front and back rims be swapped for the SE rims 15 inch front 16 inch back? This means going from 195mm front to 215mm front and 235mm rear to 245mm rear tires. Will this negatively affect either handling of the 88 turbo or foul the wheel arch on full lOck?
  11. Hi guys! HELP! I found three plugs in the engine bay that attach into NOTHING!!! i suspect one might have to do with the window heater but one is physically next to the engine.....what the hell are these three things for?!
