  1. i have a partly related problem on my s4s. When i turn on my ignition the abs light sometimes stays on and sometimes goes off.The brake pedal constantly has a long travel to begin with and after 10 minutes of driving and braking the pedal rises to where it should be effective and is nice and hard.I replaced the pressure switch a couple of months ago and have fiddled with the brake pedal switch which was loose and tending to keep my brake lights on.So realy my main problem is the long travel of the pedal when i first drive the car in the morning. Any suggestions?
  2. Part did come from Lotus.Have the packaging and part number is the new number.Prices i were quoted in the UK were all around 248 pounds plus postage(south west lotus and sj sportscars.)Anyway, works well and that is the main thing.US price was a bit cheaper but ran the risk of getting the wrong part with no return policy.I dont think there is any stock left of grey colour switch.
  3. I finally got a new pressure switch and have fitted it.All seems good so far.It runs the pump after every 5 pumps. My mechanic ordered it through Lotus and it cost me about $400 AUD.It has a black and not grey casing as i thought it was meant to. all seems ok though. Good Luck.
  4. My ABS is still playing up.I have replaced the relay(which i found in japan by the way for $38)but it looks like it must be the more expensive pressure switch.Wanted to see if anyone knows the cheapest place to get one.So far have prices of 262 UK pounds,$478 US dollars and $351 Australian. So far local price is best but i thought i might be able to get a better price in the US.I have not been able to get anyone to give me an indication of availability yet . If anyone can help me who might have been down this path that would be sweet. Also wanted to confirm that the correct part nos are Lotus-B082J6137S and GM 88927270 Thanks
  5. I did buy the car from WA.(eventually) Thanks for the offer of the manuals.I do want to get a copy of all the manuals(I have got the ABS manual now)I thought i might be able to find them on Cd somewhere.(I did for my Elan) As it happens I have found the cartridge for the TECH 1 in Sydney and the owner is coming to Qld this week so i will plug her in and hopefully find out the exact problem so not to waste too much time or money!Otherwise the car is running great and getting better the more i drive it.(It has done little work over the last few years) Should be coming to S.A. next year for the club national rally.Hopfully see you then.
  6. I am wanting to know if the GM and Lotus Delco abs parts are exactly the same and therefore interchangable as i have been quoted 250 pounds for the pressure switch which in aussy dollars is a small fortune.I am waiting on a price and availability for the pressure switch and accumulator from the US but obviously wont get them if they are not the same.(while i am here do you US guys know how much and if they ars available from GM) Also, should the abs lock up and release lock up and release and so on like on my wrx as it just seems to slow quite well with the peddle fully depressed and then bounce back a little but does not seem to get too close to locking up. Thanks for any help.
  7. Hi all.I have finally bought my s4s after years of dreaming about it.Its a 96,done 32000 klms, silver and goes like stink!Unfortunately doesn't stop real well as you will see in my tech question.Abs playing havoc.Any advise please add to my topic posted yesterday.I'm in Brisbane,Queensland, Australia,an active member in our Lotus club. The s4s adds to my 92 Excel and 94 Elan s2.WRX and ML320 complete the stable.Wife definately putting on the pressure to sell a Lotus or 2.(Three kids though so need at least the Excel so we can all go on club runs) We have a great club here and if anyone is visiting you are always welcome to join us . Anyway, hopefully s4s will be soughted soon so i have the confidence to stop. greeny.
  8. I have just bought my s4s after a 2 year negotiation(finally came down to my price)and there are 2 problems i have to sort.Main concern is that the abs keeps depressurising(red light coming on and no power assist). It will only repressurise once i turn the car off and turn the ignition back on to restart.I have changed the fluid but dont know what to do next.No TECH 1 (with lotus abs cartridge)nearby,no manual,no lotus dealer who has ever sold or serviced an esprit withih 1000klms.ABS light is also coming on infrequently(as it has been for more than 2 yrs.) Pressure swith is grey type. Has anyone had a similar problem? By the way.Problem only arised after i took the car ot a lotus club night and people getting in and out of the car had been applying the brakes with the ignition off.as the car manual said this is normal to happen once but it has continued .
