  1. Thanks andy - I'm off to collect an esprit Friday by the looks...... Not either of those eBay lovelies though - I've got at least half a dozen people telling me I'm daft to buy an esprit Oh what am I letting myself in for
  2. If you could rip a chassis out - there may be 400 worth - but in reality - it's just a wreck - you would have to be hugely brave to take it on
  3. I don't fancy that one - just been having a lesson on reconoloising seats!!!!! The one I've got my eye on needs doing.......it's not this one though...... Would make a great trailer to go behind an esprit!!!
  4. Check out his other items - he's got a near concours red one
  5. Was an under bidder on his one last time Glad I didn't get it.......... It needs an awful lot of love. Steve at sj sports was very helpful - I've read some of the reviews on him - but I have to say, yes he's abrupt and to the point, but what a completely helpful, honest and decent chap. I would much rather it be said as it needs to than waxed up!!! Ive upped my budget and am ready to buy if someone's keen and ready to sell.......... Budget 7-9k i may even be able to stretch it a bit further if the car was a real beaut
  6. I've upped the purchase budget and am still looking. The ongoing maintenance I'm not worried about. It's the initial capital cost. Have a large garage with two post lift and plenty of space to work - so it'll never see the rain with me. There are cars out there - I just don't want a retail motor, don't need A concours one either. Just one that hasn't been run into the ground...... I know specialist servicing can be expensive- but anyone competent can keep one of these cars in tip-top condition for frankly Bmw service maintenance budgets
  7. Thanks bibs - that's just what I need to read. I'm just hoping the one I buy would have been well cared for and the bills aren't all last minute strap ups...... Only time will tell...
  8. Mike I can so understand that. I have people telling me i must be mad to even consider a lotus esprit. But I don't care...... If it breaks ....I will fix it......if I can't I will look at it. They really are a thing of complete beauty - proper artwork...... Think the wife might get grumpy if it breaks and I put the car in the lounge to look at though...... I will have one by May - once I've got one - I will be booking my place at the merc day... Cheers Barry
  9. Thanks for the info it's much appreciated
  10. Thanks sparky I'm more familiar with old triumphs - you get common observations on them that mean nothing but sound bad.... Thank you for taking a look Why do they change clocks - are they prawn to failure? Cheers Barry
  11. The White ones history is indeed incomplete and patchy It's mot history is available on the dvla website and there's some advisories I'm a little cautious on. Can anyone take a quick look and see if I'm right to be concerned or if it's just the same old stuff and get the spammers out!! The oil leak is apparently not now present and the clocks have been changed after the last mot was done for some bizarre reason Reg no is f178lkm and mot cert no is 369277324409 Thanks in anticipation
  12. Thanks Eddie - I've got a very good feeling I shall be buying an esprit very soon........even if it's not this one
  13. That's a very kind offer thank you Mark is going to take some photos and email across He told me about the window frames - all stuff I'm happy to do to secure a car at the right money We shall see what he emails across but it sounds like it's basically a sound car
  14. I don't think he's advertised it yet At my budget - he's offering it prior to finishing prep'ing it for sale - which would work for me if the cars right Did you see it? I've not seen a picture yet - he's going to send some to me tomorrow as is - did she look nice? Cheers Barry
  15. Thanks for that - I've spoke with him in the last hour or so about that very car I believe - red 91 turbo? I'm hoping I can get a deal done somewhere so I can be blasting around in the spring!!
  16. Mark Thanks for that. - I'm thinking of going to have a good look at her next week. My vitesse has just gone - so there's now a lot of empty space in my garage needs filling
  17. Bibs Thanks for that - I will avoid the na - unless a great deal is offered I'm more than certain I will be getting an x180 Stevens car now Cheers Barry
  18. As much as White is not my preference - the colour combo with the interior trim looks lovely I'm really not bothered with na / turbo / se etc ..... All would be somewhat better to drive than the 1960's spitfires/ heralds/ vitesse that I'm so fond of........ I'm sure your biased some what - but what do you reckon the best choice is and why.? Cheers Barry
  19. Yeah that's the one - it's up in Manchester Hoping for a slightly better deal There's always cars available - and I'm happy to wait - some folks need the cash fast - and I can sure do that for them Cheers Barry
  20. Thanks buddsy I am more keen on the Stevens esprits to be honest. One will come up for sure - the hunt goes on. Come on someone - you know that space in the garage needs clearing!!!!!! Buy the wife a new dress and take her out for that valentines meal - in a car that'll make it there and back!!!' http://scutt.eu/ad/1624741/ Anyone know anything about this one?.. Could possibly get a deal on her
  21. Yes - he offered it me monday for 7500!!! I had just bought a vitesse 6 1964 - which I have now moved on. A lotus is the next purchase!! Cheers Barry
  22. I'm sure I can get something for my money - I have no doubt Have had a couple of interesting offers today - thanks to those who have contacted me, so far they are slightly too much or in foreign countries!! I'm sure I can sort a deal somehow..... I would consider anything - I do like the look of the Stevens esprits and simply have to have one The maintenance issues people worry about - doesn't phase me - if it's got to come apart and be fixed I shall be rolling my sleeves up....... Insurance for me has been quoted at £140 fully comp !!! How cheap is that
  23. Hi bibs Thanks - frustratingly enough I missed out on a 1994 fsh 2.2 turbo at 7.5k Monday - he offered it me - but I still had the vitesse 6 Doh The vitesse 6 has gone but alas so has the esprit My hunt will go on - there's always a deal to be had There was a lovely s2 at brightwells last year in yellow which went for 6k ish - so I'm optimistic If not - it'll be another classic triumph as a stop gap for the true dream Cheers Barry
