  1. Ahhh I thought the flat panel was difficult to remove, as per TBDs post above? The curved one is velcro'd, tried that tonight.
  2. Interesting. Not sure how easy that area is to get to without removing the dash.
  3. OK, next question... Removing A pillar? I believe it's a gentle tug, but not convinced.... Do I pull towards rear of car, or opposite side of car? I intend to document all this by the way! To help others. So far I have a list of items required, will take some pics as I go.
  4. The in car cigarette lighter could be used to charge but it's only active on ignition.... Not sure if there is enough charge to trip the relay that would connect it?
  5. Adaptor for mic, £2.69 at Maplin. Saves faffing with new mic wiring. GPs aerial is included, I intend to put this behind the dash panel above dash binnacle.
  6. I bought it from amazon.de http://www.amazon.de/Pioneer-AVIC-F970DAB-Mediacenter-mit-DVD-Laufwerk/dp/B00UNBVUBE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429775512&sr=8-1&keywords=f970DAB I even called Pioneer UK to check and as far as they are concerned, a unit sold in Germany is the same as the unit sold in the UK Pioneer actually hold their euro stock in Belgium, this includes UK stock, so no difference. So cheapest I found in UK was £619, just paid £536 inc 2day delivery. I ordered it Monday and it was delivered yesterday, better than some local suppliers can do! And given the euro stock has manuals in En/De/It/Fr again, it makes no difference to installation. Clearly, a US unit wouldn't be good as they use different FM bands etc and I don't think they have DAB? They use Sirius instead.
  7. Excellent, that sounds promising... Just need to ensure I can get the wire from there to the headunit. I also need to get a wire from headunit to one of the A pillars
  8. Ok, better hope there is space under the easy bit for a gps aerial. Where is the standard one located?
  9. Budget. I paid £536 for the F970DAB.
  10. Perfect. That's the curved piece bending cluster right? What about the flat piece under it?
  11. Thinking about where to locate new GPS aerial and I figured under the panel on the drivers side of dash? (Equivalent panel to airbag panel) How does it remove?
  12. I bit the bullet internets and ordered the pioneer harness! Having had the dash apart and taken a look, I figured it would be far easier to let Lotus do the figuring out hehe. Head unit here today, still awaiting the rest.
  13. The ISO harness is £4.86. It will leave the car with ISO plugs, so ANY headunit can be connected later. The Headunit comes with a new GPS aerial, so that's easy. The Lotus part you list above internets is £33.98 plus VAT at DeRoure, so £4.86 and 30minutes of time is cheaper and more future proof I think.
  14. Next "mod" has been ordered Pioneer F970-DAB ISO Harness DAB Aerial I will use the info I've found on here and elsewhere to remove the specific Alpine plug and fit the standard ISO plugset, this will allow easy connection of the Pioneer unit and any subsequent headunit in the future as the car will have the ISO harness. Alpine pin out Here is the color coding for the wires: BLACK : GND BlUE : Remote SW (Subwoofer) Green : Reverse Thin black : Handbrake White-black : LH- White: LH+ Grey-black : RH- Grey: RH+ Yellow : Speed signal Red-black : Illumination Pink : IGN Violet : BATT+ Along with this: I think my plan of attack is to buy an ISO extension lead similar (or same) as this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Celsus-AIS2101-ISO-Lead-Extension/dp/B000TNPN7I/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1429035576&sr=1-4&keywords=iso+extension
  15. Bit the bullet and ordered the Pioneer F970-DAB today. Need to order a DAB aerial, already seen one recommended on here for use in the a pillar.
  16. Definitely a car that looks like it should cost more than it does. I have four year old twins (one of the reasons for buying it) and whilst I know it costs less than my daily driver ?Audi Q3, others think it's a lot more! So whilst I complain about the price of nursery fees, I'm not sure of the image the Evora gives off when I collect the kids...
  17. Lovely. Im doing spa in July with lotus on track
  18. Hmm, you might be right Bibs.... Their blog seems to be the only place it's mentioned and that's littered with "any news" or "when is it coming" comments.
  19. I like the look of that rnb6 I was ready for the pioneer f970dab but might wait...
  20. I came across this, and intend to use it: Alpine pin out Here is the color coding for the wires: BLACK : GND BlUE : Remote SW (Subwoofer) Green : Reverse Thin black : Handbrake White-black : LH- White: LH+ Grey-black : RH- Grey: RH+ Yellow : Speed signal Red-black : Illumination Pink : IGN Violet : BATT+ Along with this: I think my plan of attack is to buy an ISO extension lead similar (or same) as this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Celsus-AIS2101-ISO-Lead-Extension/dp/B000TNPN7I/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1429035576&sr=1-4&keywords=iso+extension This would allow me to end up with a standard ISO connector in the car, rather than a Lotus/Alpine bodge.
  21. I'm on the July 27th with LoT.
  22. 8.3 was all about wireless CarPlay? http://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/08/apple-releases-ios-8-3/ I would guess the head units need to be firmware upgraded to support wireless CarPlay?
  23. Murrays did mention to me that since the swap to Nitro Vpower they've seen a few cars with engine management lights on. No issues with anyone else super unleaded.
  24. Look how different solar yellow comes out!
