The Porsche Tincan in all of its BEV beauty is not, unless I have missed something, the replacement for the wonderful GT3 or GT3RS 911. It sits alongside, to allow Porsche owners a choice.

Whilst watching coverage of the Daytona 24hrs last night, the commentators interviewed someone high up in the Porsche hierarchy, can't remember his name. He stated that although Porsche are investing in electric powered cars there are no plans to power the 911 by anything other than a petrol engine.

They are not the same as the bolts used on ALL v6 lotus variants. Those are the ones used on the s2 cars etc etc (We also stock and sell the same ones)

The v6 type bolts have a moving washer, Lotus used these to get more accurate torque values, They will fit but............................

Ah, OK did not know that.

There is also a road nicknamed “red rock road” I think it is that youbuters bang on about near Monaco too that I’d try and find on my next visit.

Back in 2016 I drove down to Nice to attend the Monaco Historic GP. On the return trip I drove what I think is this road along the Gorge de Daluis. West of Nice take the D6202 north, stay on this road until you pass through Entrevaux, shortly after turn right onto the D2202 which runs through the gorge which is carved through red rock, I guess a sort of sandstone.

After the gorge road I then went over the Col des Champs from St Martin d'Entraunes to Colmar but if driving a low sports car I would avoid this road. On the decent to Colmar there are several quite severe drainage gullies running across the road, had to negotiate them very carefully in the Evora.

  4. I think the British tend to fly places more than other Europeans do. The wife & I have just returned from 10 days in the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway, we flew & hired a car. We saw many European registered campers on the roads, German, French, Italian & lots of Dutch & even a few from further afield, (Poland, Slovenia, Romania, Spain), but we only saw 2 British ones & one British reg car (an old Aston DBS!).

Anyone going to Brooksland museum tomorrow (ie Jan 1st) or to Bicester on Sunday?

Quite possible I may go to Bicester. Brooklands also have a British Marques day on April 28th, although that clashes with Bicester's 2nd Sunday Scramble of the year.

  6. Many thanks for posting Daniel, a great read, brings back memories. As a youngster in the 60s & my father being a motorsport fan we went to 2 or 3 of the major meetings at Silverstone & Goodwood each year. I know we went to the International Trophy at Silverstone in 64 but can't recall anything of the Saloon race but do remember the 65 Easter meeting at Goodwood when Jim Clark & Jack Sears comprehensively defeated the Mustangs on a very wet track. Equally impressive in that race was John Rhodes drive to 3rd place in the works Mini, not too far behind Jack, although he later got penalised for a jump start. Great times.
