  1. We keep hearing that the cost of car insurance is rocketing, my wife has just renewed the insurance on her MX5, £20 less than last year!
  2. We don't often take the Evora to the shops but we do often use the wife's MX5. We always park in the area of the Sainsburys car park furthest from the store entrance where it is least busy so less chance of some twerp bashing the car when opening their doors. Almost without fail, when we return there is a damned great SUV parked next to it despite there being plenty of other spaces, making it difficult to see when reversing out of the parking space. Do these people do it on purpose just to make life difficult for others?
  3. Sorry for being a bit sceptical, I am always dubious about anything on a Reach website, they write so much rubbish. But I take your word that these stories are true. So I totally agree that this sort of stuff is quite scary & we are becoming more & more like a police state where you having to become more & more careful about what you say, unless of course you are a professional internet troll, then you can spout all sorts of bile with impunity.
  4. A bit sceptical about those reports, both mentioning things due to happen on April 1st!
  5. I think there should be an additional choice on ballot papers, "None of the above".
  6. It actually expires before my next booked trip, so I may well be with someone else then, I often swap insurers.
  7. I would normally agree with your last paragraph, but yesterday I rang Admiral to amend my travel insurance & got through to talk to someone straight away, couldn't believe it!
  8. Merlyn were around for many years during the 60s & 70s, producing mainly single seaters. In their early years they were never very successful, the FJunior, F3 & F2 cars always overshadowed by the likes of Lotus & Brabham. However they were much more successful when Formula Ford was introduced & their cars came to be the ones to beat for several years in that class.
  9. I wonder if they had to actually pay the $10 to attend!
  10. On our trip to LMC (Portsmouth-Caen) we had no problem outbound, very little wait time at customs at both ports. However coming back at Caen one of the French customs sniffer dogs took a serious dislike to the Evora, barking madly at it. This led to the French customs twice having us empty out the car & searching it, finding nothing untoward. Don't know what the dog was sniffing for but think it may have been stow away immigrants as the French customs seemed as puzzled as we were about the dog's reaction. We expected to get stopped again on arrival at Portsmouth, but other than a short queue for passport checks, nothing.
  11. I may be wrong, but those coins appear to add up to 11s 9 1/2d.
  12. No, and I cannot see any section on the V5C where it would state it.
  13. Yeh, just checked my Evora 400 & it is ULEZ compliant.
  14. Thanks for asking Bibs. As Stef said it is working now, so booked in.
  15. Doh, went to book a ticket for next week only to find they are sold out, oh well maybe next time.
  16. Just pointing out a Cortina can weigh 1.4T. Indeed the weight of the Tesla can increase too when fully loaded.
  17. Cortina Mk3, 960kg dry weight (also seen 990kg quoted) plus 4 average size adults at say 75kg each plus full tank of fuel & a boot full of shopping, not far off 1.4T.
  18. Same here, never use the immersion. Boiler goes on for 30mins in the morning & that is enough to keep the water hot for a full day.
  19. Agreed, Silverstone stands can be bloody cold even on a nice day. Looks like the weather should be pretty good this year though. I will be there on Sat & Sun In the CL area.
  20. Returning from Le Mans Classic last week, I got off the ferry at Portsmouth & queued up to go through customs. When I got to the customs booth I was a bit shocked when the customs officer said "I'm sorry sir but I am going to have to impound your car". I looked at him a bit inquisitively before a smile broke out on his face & he said "Its only because I want to have a drive in it, lovely car sir".
  21. Going to the Classic in the Evora, staying on Lycian Events site at Porsche Curves.
  22. Another one here who has not owned a smart phone, also never sent a text message.
  23. Speaking as someone who does a bit of cycling, I do think the LR driver did pass a little too close & too fast. However the reason the woman fell off was because the cyclist at the front stopped so she had too & could not get her foot out of the clip less pedals fast enough. Fine did seem excessive though.
  24. Merry Christmas to all at TLF.🎅
  25. Having shared car ownership does not mean less cars on the road. Maybe there will be less cars, but those cars are going to be used more so there will still be just as many on the road at any one time. Nothing will change until public transport is made cheaper & more convenient, not gonna happen in a rural environment.
