  1. What's thinking there Kev? I'm likely to have some dealer stuff done, so it might not work so well for me. That said I should hopefully get a factory tour during the build. 6-8 weeks IIRC. Wasn't really anything that took my fancy. The Boxster is ubiquitous and I personally find the styling a little unexciting.
  2. After a short but sweet "just to check" test drive from Stratton Motor Company, I finally placed my order for a Coupe in a rather special colour. My first Lotus. So very excited now. Was good dealing with Stratton's new chap, Jonathan Potts. More news as it happens and a reveal on the colour nearer the time.
  3. Bedford's 101dB(A) static, 87.5dB(A) drive by. It's K-series R500s (exhaust on the left) that really get it in the neck. Cars with centre exhausts shouldn't have as much of a problem at Bedford as some people reckon. YMMV
  4. Cheers Imran That's a GoPro 4 Black, superclamp-mounted on the rollbar. I now have a Cobalt Cage, which really locks the camera down. I was getting some jello from flex in the stock case.
  5. By the looks of the pattern on the Cup 2s I doubt there would be that much in it. For reference, this is what ZZRs are like in the rain, on our R300... Enjoy! (That moment when you remember you forgot to switch to wets the night before) BTW, I love the ZZRs on the Caterham and would certainly consider having a dry set on the V6 when I get it
  6. I'd say that looks like slightly under-pressure. 2 bar is 29 psi, which is low for hot pressure in track tyres like these. Looking at Porsche posts, people are talking around 33 psi hot. My point of reference is that front ZZRs on our Caterham had that wear pattern when they were about 2-3 psi low (I'd got the wrong end of a stick). For reference, ZZRs in Exige sizes would normally run 30 psi hot.
  7. Sorry for the Necroposting, but a quick question for Chris. What's the width between one of those brick piers and the opposite wall? i.e. the narrowest width once you're past the door. Our garage is almost a carbon copy of yours, so perfect for reference. Cheers
  8. Ahhh, interesting. Thanks for that, Arun. Looking a bit further into the history, it looks like B+G licenced/copied (unknown) the WorksBell unit a few years ago, to replace the Raid Snap-Off one they used to do. Looks like they've done a nice job with it. I wonder if the WB accessories work with the B+G unit. e.g. the locking cover.. http://www.plays-kool.co.uk/acatalog/Key-Lock-System-for-Rapfix-II-47.html B+G are a heck of a lot cheaper than the Japan sourced WB gear!
  9. I don't know if this is useful to anyone, but I'll leave this here in case. The QR system used seems to be a Rapfix II by Works Bell. I've got the Rapfix Racing QR on my Caterham, which doesn't carry any connections (horn's on the dash, because "Old Skool"). WorksBell RapFix II
  10. So, this is the old GM part... So is yours different, Dave? If so, pics maybe?
  11. Generally not the case. The catalytic converter isn't a heat sink, rather a site for more exothermic reactions. In many cars, esp. high performance ones, the cat burns a bunch of unburned fuel, carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen, generating quite a bit of heat. De-catting vents all that lovely cocktail to free air, at a lower temperature. Super clean engines have much lower heating effects from the cat, but my guess is that supercharged 3.5L V6s are not in this class Just FYI
  12. Hi All, As I near the point of actually putting the money down, on either new or used, I've got one last showstopper to eliminate. Namely, will it fit in the garage. More accurately, will I be able to get in and out once it's there? Our garage is on the narrow side and has a brick pier on the left, which forces you to park further to the right than you normally would, which makes me worry slightly that with the longish doors it might be real pain to get in/out. So, does anyone live in the Cambridge area and wouldn't mind helping me out on my journey to Exige ownership? Cheers Martyn
  13. LOL, not the bulbs Arun, the units they fit into. I'm plotting. Having replaced the godawful standard lights on our Caterham with LED units - whole unit, not just the bulbs, I'm now thinking a similar change might be possible on the Exige.
  14. IIRC, CZ315E and yes, they should take a standard mic
  15. Bit of a technical question, but I'm guessing someone probably knows. Are the S3 headlight units (low and high beam) both 90mm types? They appear to be the same diameter as each other and this would be a fairly standard OTS size. Cheers
  16. Sorry for the confusion. Lotus don't make it clear that you can spec the soft-top as an option. Is that dealer fit, along with the rear fixings, or done at Hethel?
  17. Now, that line makes for some interesting reading! Rubs knees
  18. Hi Dave Could you work the same magic for me please? MartynB on exiges too, confirmation email sent but no reply... Cheers
  19. The slatted engine cover is a weight saving change, not an aero one. That you get on both flavours. I wasn't sure about it until I saw it in real life, but it's grown on me now. If you really can't be doing with it, then you've got a no sale there unless you can arrange a swap with Lotus or an existing glass cover owner.
  20. Err, Derek, which aero components are you thinking of? The Sport 350 roadsters I've seen have no splitter and no rear wing. The show car that Lotus Cars have on their website seems to be a peculiar one-off, with a splitter, motorsports wing and the 360 Cup front access cover. None of these seem to figure one production Sport 350 roadsters.
  21. Ta Davel. That's one down. How about: 1) Head unit power and speaker wiring 2) Cruise wiring (pretty sure this is standard) 3) Heated seats
  22. I've noticed a lot of posts saying that you are often able to retrofit options because the wiring is usually in place, e.g. for Cruise or USB power. Is this pretty universal? For example, if you order an Exige or Elise without ICE, does it still come with the wiring loom in place, so fitting something later is still a simple procedure? Cheers Martyn
  23. MSAR are superb for Schroth. All the options, bits and knowledge. HTH Martyn
