  1. A. Mealing here too. Pretty sure that's what it says. That and Mealing is an English name.

Light sensitive but subtle with it. And, no it wasn't cheap

Yeah, sorry about that. My bad...
  4. I also have my QT box, ready to go on when I get a clear patch of time. Looking forward to trackday impunity!
  5. That's totally what I'd do. I nice little rocker switch, accessible but out of the way so it doesn't get knocked.
  6. Just a thought. Can you pull the fuse for the fan in the rear unit, then just use the front one? (If that has a cooler in it)
  7. Just because you can. Doesn't mean you should...
  8. Interesting, George. What's the pedal feel like compared to the standard V6 unit? I test drove an upgraded car last year and found the pedal to be super heavy, even when used to the upgraded clutch in our Caterham
  9. Great footage Gary! Fascinating to see the difference in your driving between following and "leading". The first half sees you turning in early to almost every corner, a common psychological effect, like early braking where you see the other guy doing it and you naturally feel wrong waiting to do it yourself. Once you're past him, all that goes away and you're right on it. I'd occasionally noticed myself do it, but hadn't seen it so strikingly shown in video. Both cars are going great. Lots of fun I'm sure
  10. No worries. If you follow my instructions you'll be able to convert the chrome finish to a brushed one, with the lightest touch of abrasive. By the looks of the design, you'll have plenty of hidden area around the circumference to test out the brushing. Just try light passes, so as to not rub through the chrome layer and you'll be fine. Remember brushed metal is just metal with scratches on. These chrome finishes are usually deposited metal, so will take a light mechanical surface finish just fine. Hey, it might even be a real metal ring. Hard to tell from the photos
  11. I can't help thinking that a slight brushed effect rather than the straight chrome would suit better. To that end, you could run a bit of steel wool or scotchbrite over the chrome coating. I had chrome rings on an MX-5 a while back and they kept glinting in the sun which got annoying. YMMV
  12. I had assumed KT would be fitting their own exhaust system for a EX460 setup. Surely that wouldn't be able to fail in the same way. Maybe I'm missing something? Any details on what is different about the subframe? Sounds intriguing.
  13. Hi Peter. What was the problem with the intake and how did they fix it? Interesting to hear good news from the dyno on both these cars. Seems to be in short supply round these parts
  14. To answer your question @marklawson77, yes you could swap to fixed. In the first instance though, I'd go the warranty route. May be worth printing off some of the loose seat thread, especially where Lotus says they'll sort it out. Now I'm sure @Bibs said something about there being a decent factory fix coming through. Did I imagine that? Mine were bad, so I fixed them myself.
  15. OK... That was unexpected. I look around and see plenty of people driving cars that cost a tenth of what I paid for mine. I suspect some of them might have a similar view of me. There's always a bigger fish. IRL, I'm guessing the Shooting Brake isn't going to be quite as extreme as that render. Kind of a shame really, but I expect it'll still be a thing of beauty.
  16. Looks like Aston and Zagato have got together to figure out an estate to go with it. Looking promising... (1 of 99 as they say)
  17. From MOT guidance: So although the Photoshopped version won't swing it, a tasteful (or temporary) reflector might work. No need for it to be E marked. Rare earth magnets anyone?
  18. Hi Ian, welcome aboard mate. Introduce yourself on the introductions bit. I had looked at the design of the SSC part, and while the piece seems very easy to fit, I'm bothered by the multi part nature of it. There's the "L" shaped, sheet steel bracket part, then the (I assume) aluminium clevis, then the steel tube. In the event of an impact, the loads are going to deflect the tube in bending, effectively trying to shorten it, which is going to try to pull the clevis out of the end of the tube, while the bracket will take a bit of a bend and also allow some cranking due to the L shape that you can't see in your pic. Now, that may all be contained in the tolerances of the build. The clevis may go really deep into the tube, so that my concerns are totally immaterial. In which case great. I just can't bring myself to go for that solution when we're looking at instantaneous loads around 3 tonnes. I instead sourced a Lotus OEM straight bar, which I'll probably fit next year, cutting the trim to suit. After all I don't have any rear speakers to get in the way, so I have a fairly free reign to remove trim as required. Hopefully I won't find that the new dimension roll hoop actually started before mine was built.
  19. Makes sense. The black plastic parts are probably bits of the part that is white on the TF version, but has fragmented on yours. If you're still under warranty I understand your approach. Can you apply some pressure for a fix via your dealer? if I was faced with the problem I'd be 3D printing or machining a temporary part that replaces the lock barrel and the black part that it drives. The trick is to keep the o-ring seal on that centre shaft, see TF pics. best of luck Peter. I hope you get something sorted quickly and a proper fix soon after
  20. So Peter, is the black plastic "claw" section broken, that connects with the lock barrel? I'm guessing from the pic that the lock barrel has "spat out" those two tumbler plates. Those don't matter too much, they'll just make the lock less secure. it doesn't look too hard to rework a cap mechanism from a MG-TF if you can find one, as you say. The central mech appears the same, but would need transplanting into the lotus metal cap, which IIRC is custom. I'd say try eBay for the mg part or keep trying 3rd party Lotus parts people or dealers for the Orem part. Someone may have one in stock https://www.the-t-bar.com/22-cjj-s-guides/14345-fuel-filler-cap-how-to-change-the-lock-barrel the TF strip/build for ref
  21. LOL at Lincoln Town Car around 3:30. That has to be an interesting track experience.
  22. I notice on PH classifieds, you're now starting to see 3k mile 350s coming through at just over £50k. Sounds like running in miles to me.
  23. do you have access to a S3 Exige or Elise that has the grommets fitted? All you need to do is fit them in the same positions as that car. Pilot's tutorial is here: http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f157/how-install-soft-top-exige-27090/ As you can see, it doesn't have to be 100% pretty, as the D-shape grommets hide a multitude of sins. If you need any confirmation of dimensions off my car for example, just let me know. Bill's copy: http://www.billswebspace.com/exigesofttopretrofit.htm The unfortunately pictureless SEL0C reference is here: https://wiki.the playground.org/a/Exige_S2_soft_top_conversion Worthwhile getting a Dremel and a set of digital calipers. Hey that's true anyway
