  1. @Colin G sailing close to the wind, there..... Diverting slightly, I'd value the Forum's machine learning wisdom here: the whole creaking seat thing has been done to death, but am I the only one to experience quite noticeable seatbelt versus leather on seat shoulders rub - manifesting itself as a kind of light cracking / clicking on bumpy roads? Started on passenger side, as noted by my 8 year old. If you pull the seatbelt away from your chest, and hence off the shoulder, it stops. Obviously, some kind of lower friction cloth seatbelt sleeve would do it and prevent rubbing against the leather, but I'm looking for the neatest fix. Or is it just that JCT600 used some kind of ultra-high-friction wax on the seats prior to delivery? Otherwise, I repeat, awesome car, no other gripes. Attention seems to come mainly from teenage boys and 50yr-old+ women, but I'm struggling for the commonality here.
  2. Procrastinating at work and thought I'd add my experience, FWIW, having done around 1k miles in @Philsport300's 'old' Evora 400 (hence it's done around 2.5k miles now). I should also mention I put 10k miles on my '59 plate Exige S over a couple of years, a few years back. With the Exige - it never missed a beat. No creaks, rattles, leaks, nothing. I remember one incident when the traction control went haywire during very heavy rain and the car went into 'get me home' mode, but returned to normal on a restart. The Evora 400 has (mega touch of anything vaguely wooden within range) thus far been great. The seats have been fine - I find them comfortable, supportive, and (crucially) silent in terms of any mechanical clunks or creaks. VERY minor is that I find the belt rubs on the seat 'shoulder' where it contacts the seat en route to the driver's shoulder / chest. I think this is cos I'm on the light / small-framed side, so perhaps there's less tension on the belt at this point - dunno. I'm about 65kg so not sure if that all adds to the 75kg debate at all??! There have been a couple of instances at low speed where the brakes have bound on very slightly, enough to make a slight squeal whilst driving along - fixed by getting some heat into the brakes. The last few times I've driven the car this hasn't recurred. Only other niggle I could possibly point at at the moment is that the paint finish is very slightly different on the doors v rest of the body, obviously down to metal/plastic. Only visible in certain lights. I should add that the car was just run in when I had it, and previous owner from new had done all the hard work of any teething issues from factory, and that I appreciate massively. But I just thought I'd add to this thread positively on both the Evora and Exige in the interests of a bit of balance, on the positive side... I've now virtually guaranteed a major unexpected mechanical on the way home.....fingers crossed.
  3. @PaulCP, you've just made me feel so much worse... I had exactly the same thought, but the 4th glass of wine hasn't kicked in yet so no limited slip between brain and type. Dammit.
  4. Yep, I think that was me and the boys heading back from a mundane but obviously not so mundane shopping trip. The strood (1/3 mile causeway to island, for non Essex members) unfortunately too busy to allow play. @Gm77, glad you're narrowing down on pretty much precisely my 'colchester' location... If you close the valve, do people stop noticing?! My boys are on high alert for a green Exige.
  5. Hawk-eyed stuff from you there, @Gm77. I knew I should've washed it last night... I nearly always cycle the 10+ miles to the station, but decided to give the Evora an early morning Fri spin (and my legs a break). Valve open sounds even more ludicrously loud at 5.30-odd in the morning. Actually, I'm interested in peoples' views - do you let concerns over car park dings (or worse) mean you don't drive it when you have the opportunity, or just go for it and trust your luck (I'm guessing this should be on the 'as a daily driver' thread)? Oh, and for any lurkers with ill intent - the Evora 400 will be making infrequent and irregular appearances at Greater Anglia station car parks!!
  6. Whilst we're on this, does anyone else's valve squeak on opening and (slightly quieter) on closing? Or is it that my neighbour has, after only a week, resorted to covert sabotage and I should be looking for a literal spanner in the works?
  7. Thanks. You know, they do say that wherever you happen to be in Colchester Borough on a Sunday morning, if you listen carefully enough.....?
  8. Hi all - having lurked a little on thelotusforums, time to stick my head above the parapet. I picked up @Philsport300's old car on Saturday from jct600 in Leeds. Phil - many many thanks for moving swiftly on this, and for the favours on the paperwork. I had an Exige S S2 for a couple of years when I had very young kids, but now time to own a Lotus again and had to be a 2+2. Stunning looking, driving, and of course sounding car. @JayEmm - the Suffolk/Essex Evora 400 fleet swells further...
