Anyone swapped there original manifolds for a 2tubular setup etc and still have there originals? Martin
  7. Thanks chaps, perfect info and just what i was hoping for. Martin
  8. How do you remove the sills in our cars? As many have fitted carbon covers I hope there are some top tips out there. Thanks in advance Martin S
  9. When we couldnt get cup 2's I went to Bridgestone potenza sports and they have been great on road and track. Way better than the Pirelis and very close to cup 2's. Now getting a second set so if anyone needs some front cup 2's, get in touch. Martin s
  10. Seems I missed that run, shame the bloke talked the whole time over it. Sadly thats not the engine covers they use, its a properly plain ugly thing. Good to see a real car in action, thank you. Shame it seems Lotus have lost a lot of money and are laying off 200 people. Lets hope they can sort things out and get going fully.
  11. Strange that for the big launch at Goodwood, they didn't have a running I4 anywhere and weirdly just one Emira on a stand that could easily have coped with a couple of more Emiras or at least one V6? The I4 on the stand looked exactly as the V6 except there was an ugly, heat enclosing plastic cover totally hiding any engine in the engine bay (was there an engine even in there?). I like many have been down for one of these for ages now and even though the other day I saw a short video what may have been an I4 being tested in Austria, there still seems very little sign of the I4 actually really being released and yet again, there is another price rise on its way and I am being pressured by Lotus to decide on the details of my car and, into having a launch edition, which I never wanted (I can only assume that's happened as so many people have dropped out). I (and I'm sure I';m not alone on this with long term Lotus owners) do not in any way, want a launch edition of any Lotus. I love them and enjoy modifying out errors/quirks built in by Lotus, but can only imagine what the launch editions of any of their cars along the way must have been like, so its looking more and more like I'm about to give up on this.
  12. I just went to Lotus customer services. Might just as well as rung my local chippy for all the good it did lol Customerservices@lotuscars.com
  13. I contacted the factory direct , see below. Thank you for sending me your VIN. I have discussed the matter with my colleagues, and we are sorry to hear you have had to replace both rear uprights. Unfortunately, as your vehicle is so far out of warranty, and it was not taken to an Approved Lotus repairer, on this occasion we are unable to assist with any goodwill. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Kind Regards, STACEY CLOUTING CUSTOMER CARE ADVISOR
  14. Just as an update, the Bridgestones are a very good road tyre and not bad on track but have stiff sidewalls and flack some feel making them a bit edgy when pushing hard. If possible I would stick to Michelins of some form as they give a better feel and hopefully soon, (though most likely not until spring) be able to get cup 2's back on the car. Martin S
  15. I just had both of mine replaced (2015 Exige S) as both had small cracks and one bush had movement. Its a known fault and the new uprights are apparently on their 3rd redesign so they know there is a problem as where the cracks occur the uprights are getting thicker and stronger with each redesign. I contacted Lotus but they wouldn't do anything and just said that as Id had the work done at a Lotus specialist not a Lotus dealer there was nothing they could offer. I had it done at a Lotus specialist (Back on Track) as the Lotus dealer didn't spot it and resolve the knocking sound I had at the rear.
  16. For those having the same problem as me trying to find a CUP 2 replacement. Below is what I found out on my searching for tyres on sale here (The US has many others). Cup 2 in our sizes do not exist anywhere in Europe it seems. This is as supplies have dried up in particular due to a carbon black shortage , its what gives the grip and 90% apparently comes from Russia (or did at £60 a ton). Its now £300 a ton, also Michelin start winter tyre production in 5 weeks time so its possible, no CUP 2 tyres until next spring. After a lot of searching and watching of tyre test videos (none of which really relate to our type of cars), reading reviews I ended up getting Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres in 265 35 ZR18 97Y and 215 45 ZR17 91Y These were in total £540 from Camskill (Brian there is very helpful) so not bank breakers, so will be used until I can get Cup 2 again. chose these as I wanted road tyres that might do the odd track now and in winter and they got good reviews generally and are a Michelin Pilot Sport 4S equivalent with stiffer sidewalls and just a 7mm starting block depth. On track next week so will be interesting. Tyres looked at and my simple interpretation of reviews. Fast summer road/ the odd trackday Michelin Pilot Sport 4S , not far off the cup 2’s in performance but unavailable. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and 4 . Good road tyres for most cars, comfortable but a bit soft on steering Continental Sport Contact 6 or 7 Not in our sizes. Bridgestone Potenza sport (rated up with the Michelin 4S) Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport (Not in our sizes) Nankang NS-2R £580 (Possibly ok on the road as well but I couldn't find much about them). Pirellis P zero I don’t not look at them as had those at the beginning and personally did not rate them. More track orientated Toyo R888R Not so good in the wet as an all round tyres and strangely, didn’t do so well on track in reviews as some of the fast road tyres above. maybe they only suit light cars .Only W rating if you wanted them. Yokohama ADO8RS not as good as the old AD08R apparently, only W rating if you wanted them. Yokohama A052, Good track not all weather. Over £1100 for 4. MRF motorsport . In our sizes are meant to be very good. Around £900 Nankang AR1 Good track not all weather Avon ZZR Good track not all weather Avon ZZS (Not in our sizes) I’m sure there may be many more but hope this may help some.
  17. As no cup 2's are available anywhere and it seems they dont do Michelin Pilot sport 4S in our sizes or Goodyear eagle F1 supersport so its looking like full on track tyres like Avon ZZR (though I like Toyo R888R you cant get them in our sizes!) which isnt ideal for the way my car is used, so, its looking like I may have to get something like Bridgestone potenza sport for a mixed use of track and road, or, any other suggestions very welcome. Martin S
  18. Has anyone fitted one of these. I want a bar that doesn't require anything to be cut and that clears the speakers and lets the seats go all the way back. https://www.eliseparts.com/shop/interior-trim/interior-trim/safety-harnesses-mounts/harness-bars/ Martin S
  19. Never got sorted. I was told by a Lotus specialist that the work involved was not small to get to that area and the problem could well come back quite quickly, so advised to just live with it which is what I've done. Not ideal so may get it looked at when next in at another place. Martin
  20. I bought the seriously lotus one quite quickly before I saw the cheaper option and today fitted it. Turns out having a VX220 owning daughter can be really useful at times!" If this doesn't work then it may be due to steering as the ride height was changed when the nitrons went on and its around then that the problem started.
  21. Ordered . Thank you all for your help, its really appreciated. Been under a dashboard of a VX220 many times , so know what level of discomfort and contrortionist skills are involved lol. Martin
  22. Great stuff, do you know the part number by any chance? I looked on de roure but couldnt find it. Martin
  23. SoRry for such a later reply to this. Turned out they had set the suspension to almost the softest settings which wasnt what I wanted and the geo needed some tweaking to get it how I wanted it. In the end they (Hoffmans) were very helpful and did a great job. The car feels amazing and rides even better on the road than on the original race pack set up and now has with slightly lighter steering (it had a 380 geo before) in a straight line and far less edgy than it had been at speed. It is overall far more stable and more controlled handling. They were 1 way nitrons and I went with 575lb front and 750 lb rear. I could maybe have gone stiffer at the rear but am more than happy with the way it is. Martin S
  24. I had Nitrons fitted which involved some lowering of the car and since then my traction control light randomly comes on and does actually turn the traction control off. If I go into race mode it will occasionally just drop out of race mode (you can hear the tickover slow). It can sometimes work all day and then others the light will come on afer just a few minutes there really is no pattern to when it will happen. I was told by someone sat Hoffmans that this can happen due to somethig to do with teh sterring rack? Any thoughts/ideas welcome. Martin S
