  1. I personally can't see anything insulting in a kit car reference. It is certainly not a "full on normal car" and I have no problem with that. Many of the kit cars are engineered super well and represent the great pieces of automotive "science". I actually think that Exige is one of those and am quite happy to drive one.
  2. This is very true and I'm guilty of this stupidity all the time. All too used to the lights automatically turning off in the other car. Need to train myself before someone lands in the back of the Exige...
  3. I'd rather say that this is largely dependent on the untis that you're measuring this elusive grip in. In case those happened to be g's, then pressure on the ground will be a function of weight, suspension stiffness and geometry, aedorynamics of the car. Weight is going to be both positive (putting more vertical forces due to gravity) and negative (putting more horisontal forces due to centrifugal forces), but other things being equal I'd argue that less weight is better than more in this respect. General motorsports develoments tend to support this view, I believe. Perhaps there is people here who actually know about physics to correct the above considerations.

    Optimate?

It works fine for me - http://lmgtfy.com/?q=optimate I have CTEK, use it for other car as Exige is used regularly and with a normal battery should not need any maintenance in my case.
  5. Actually it is even more mysterious than that, as my Sport 350 was built in August 2017, collected in early September 2017, and it does have black painted casing and the plate. When asked about this during the factory tour, I've been told that those must just be different superchargers batches (of the same parts).
  6. I'd only do (and am doing) harness bar and harnesses, towing eye and towing strap, proper alignment (it does eat the outer edges of the tyres with the standard settings) and, in the course of normal (more frequent than prescribed in the manual) maintenance, engine oil (300V 5W40), brake fluid (SRF), gearbox oil (Gear300), brake pads (better than DS2500), brake rotors (2-piece), TRD air filter, tyres (PSC2 or Trofeo R I guess, but there.is seemingly some more good options). Rest of the money can be spent on track time and tuition. If still too much money left - sell Sport 350 and buy Cup 430 (then start with the same question). ;-)

    Hi All

And this next one will really treat their precious customers much better. They will consult before releasing new models, offer those for 1-to-1 exchange and also send cards with greetings on the bank holidays of the country where the precious customer resides. Once you get that one wonderful car manufacturer, there will certainly be a long line of people waiting to get the name of it. That green car does look nice.
  8. Nice write-up, many times. I've started with similar thoughts a few weeks earlier. Happy now with my Solid Red Sport 350 since early September, approximately 2k miles done, first trackday booked on Sunday 26/11, getting more and more used to 1,100kg mid-engine RWD after and in parallel with 1,500kg front-engine 4WD - happy and entertained. Have 0 issues with performance of Sport 350 so far (other than could be faster, but I've said that in too many of a really nice cars) and/or price paid. To each his/her own. Good luck with racing, hopefully I'll get there one day as well.
  9. It is very similar with Gear300 - needs to be warmed up before proper use.
  10. I always had good experience with all the Motul fluids (the only exception in terms of preferences is Castrol SRF), including Gear300.
  11. We'll be taking off from West London at around 6.30 on Sunday (most likely M40) - anyone else going similar route and time? Weather looks to be good:
  12. Thank you, @Dunc1! Booked it just now :-)
  13. Exactly, and it is done like that in some other cars as well - makes perfect sense to me. :-)
  14. I really liked Opentrack days before and this may be an excellent opportunity to have the first trackday in the Exige. Can hardly be in a better place than Silverstone - interesting yet very safe setting. Will either convince myself to book now or will book after coming back from holidays in early November.
  15. I am very happy with it actually - a bit blunt and unsophisticated, but very nice and bright.
  16. It certainly is, but I'm primitive enough and prefer just plain Solid Red.

    Gold Track Days

I generally liked a few days I've attended with them (Silverstone and Goodwood) - well run and with added small "upmarket" touches (incl. being not crowded and generally attended by people in a more serious cars). Having race teams with very fast cars around is both good and bad as they don't always really stick to the rules of the game (nothing too bad). I will likely book two days with them this year as those are during the weekends.
  18. It looks like 7l is the correct answer
  19. Worse than that you can just get P0300 - random misfire. I'd go in a sequence of spark plugs (change, never hurts to get a fresh set of spark plugs), wires (check/change), coils (check/change).
  20. So all was confirmed back in July with configuration finalised as follows - Lotus Exige Sport 350 (no noise limits issue), Solid Red, alcantara interior with red stitching, aircon, sound insulation, cruise control, stereo, floor mats, fire extinguisher, towing eye, towing strap (apparently due to the new bumper design it needs a new style bracket, similar to the one in Cup 380), soft top conversion and soft top itself, harness bar and 4 or 6 point harnesses (will be added after I'm back from holidays in November). So nice car in a rather standard configuration, really hope I will like it as much as I still like the Evo after 10 years and 100k miles (recent increase in the amount of driving still leaves me with constant thought of "this is such a nice car"). Collected on 09/09 from B&C, before that visited the factory for a tour on 24/08 (which was great with Scott) while the car was in a very final stage of production. Done first 500mi now and can't wait to complete all the break-in mileage (plan is to have a first service on 02/10) and make it to a few trackdays still this year (can only do weekends, there is Goodwood and Silverstone with Goldtrack in November and December respectively).
  21. Pretty much the same situation here (Evo is not considered as anything s... car by anyone). Asked Admiral (insurer of our other cars) to put Sport 350 on the multi car policy and that was not a problem at all. Premium is super reasonable, trackdays are not included (I think I can manage this flexibly)
  22. Same question here (but for Sport 350). I was told by the garage that they will go for Shell 5W40, I did have very good experience with Motul 300V in my other car, so would happily feed Lotus with Motul as well. Any shared wisdom on this matter? Also gearbox oil?
  23. That's what I've been shown on my Exige when collecting yesterday, exactly as you describe. :-)
