  1. That is good advice, and extremely good manners to post in French. 👍 Makaimura, don't apologise, your English is very good. My French is still terrible despite trying to improve over many years of going to Le Mans. Kudos on buying a Lotus in France, weirdly I've airways wanted a Venturi Atlantique...which must be as rare a sight in the UK as an Evora is in France?!
  2. yes, weird eh? Was driving up to Sheffield for a night out (sans children!) Thanks for the thumbs up!
  3. Hi Mr Tad, that would be me! I was a bit surprised myself, yours looked stunning in that colour. I love doing the school run in it when I can, my son is not-at-all-subtle and generally hangs out the window shouting out at his little mates as we leave. Would love to have a nosy at yours next time if we bump into each other again. 👍
  4. Probably irrelevant, but I had the same on my XC60 and it was the windscreen seal. The windscreen looked sealed/perfect so I doubted Volvo and thought it was the Pano-roof leaking and water finding a route down, but sure enough re-sealing the windscreen fixed the leak.
  5. Great writing, thank you! I could really picture the scenario. I'm irrationally delicate about an "S", I'd be beyond paranoid in a new 410. Good on you for still giving it a go!
  6. ...just remembered last Sunday day out in the Peaks (Baslow road, A619 I think) saw a 211 and a lime green Elise (may have been an Exige as my memory is rubbish!) shortly after one another. Nice to see, no waves as you'd have thought the XC60 driver was weird. First time I've seen a 211 I think, looked amazing among the family wagons trundling along, even my wife commented "that's nice" - high praise indeed!
  7. Wowser! 😎 I've had so many blue cars I've now sworn off them, but that does look absolutely brilliant. Good choice sir 👍
  8. Nice! Before you had to reverse it out, did you just sit in an armchair on the drive with a fat cigar initially just saying "please just leave it here, or anywhere really, it's just one of MANY being delivered today". I'd have been tempted 😉
  9. "super sharp" is a great description! It really does look perfect. I've never even been close/rich enough to getting a car "delivered"! How did it go? Presumably a better experience than a train slog, but did you miss that first drive back home?
  10. Sorry, had no time to note the plate.
  11. Well, although I've not answered my original question, both evora driver and passenger(!!) waved like crazy to me today. Warm happy feelings returned 😂🤘🤘
  12. Having only owned mine for less than a month, was elated to see another Evora. Near Ollerton, Nottinghamshire. I was travelling back after picking up my 2 boys from them staying with grandparents for a few days (joys of summer holiday juggling childcare). I'd just had a bloke agree/joke with me about "practical family car" in Blyth services as I effortlessly (almost) fitted bags and offspring into it, was tootling back home, feeling smug in my practical sports car, when a beautiful be-winged yellow 4xx was seen by all in my car coming round the bend in front of me. I gave as big a thumbs up as my startled brain could summon up, the two occupants of the other car looked as surprised as me and seemed to jump forward to give full-on waves! Brilliant work!! 😁 #wishiboughtayellowone. Your car looked awesome whoever you are. Jaimie
  13. Thanks to bravo73 and theelanman...looks like I'll be calling ES tomorrow.
  14. Thanks all, a few options to try then. Seems strange to me so many vagaries in design for what you'd think should be a fairly standard cross-manufacturer part. I was thinking I need one for track days, but on the road how do tow-truck companies manage - do they just attach something to a structural part of the chassis if they need to?
  15. Hi-de-hi campers, Apologies, I've tried Google and searching the forum but can't find an answer. I'm missing the front towing eye from a MY11 Evora. It seems to be >£60 via deroure and not in stock, which seems expensive. Is there an alternative (and cheaper!) option? Many thanks, Jaimie
  16. All good stuff, thanks all...I'll keep waving then, someone surely will give me a 👋 back eventually!
  17. Very under-rated cars! The Oz/muscle car feeling helped! I re-badged mine as much Holden R8 as I could, sounded like thunder with tweaks. I'm embarrassed to say the only problem being it was too big for my work underground car park. Yes, I'm an idiot!
  18. An etiquette question - I'm new to Lotus ownership, although have owned a VX200T many years ago. I've only had an Evora for 3 weeks, been dying to see another so I can give a dumb-ass big smile and cheery thumbs up to one coming in the other direction. Looking at the numbers on the road in the country, despite my exuberance, that is unlikely to happen more then once per year if I'm lucky. So...the question is.. after passing/faced this past week a few Elise's who ignored my 'thumbs-up' or "wave" that I was quietly (but subtlety and nay, desperately trying to say "WE BOTH HAVE LOTI, WE KNOW MORE THAN THE OTHER'S WHO ARE MORONS!") saying "hi!" to them. Is the evora regarded differently compared to more hard-core Lotus cars, or are we still in one big happy family? My old Land Rover creates waves of despair/passion every time you pass another. Am I missing a hierarchy here? Or should I continue the brand loyalty and general "we're in this together/blimey, we are driving the best cars on the road" feeling?
  19. Having read you reply, I agree you need to try one. Personally I've come from various M-cars (Z4M, E46 M3) and random cars (eg. Corvette C6) and left-field (S2000, VX200T, VXR8 etc) so may not be giving balanced advice if you have the cash for an i8! I had circa £40k and spent £33k. If I had £50-60+k I have no idea what I'd have chosen as the risk of "blimey, I'll choose the wrong car" must seem much more daunting. . An i8 is in my opinion much more "supercar" but I agree it might be worth -50% in 3 years! My next door neighbour has a Lexus RC F, it does sound "nice" and certainly is fast, but is more M5 rather than M3/4 if you get me. Jag XKR is a car that did not appeal at all, I presumed I could not afford an "-s" so did not even look (may have been a mistake!). Other options included cars that I discounted on a variety of things including worry about maintenance costs, friends had one already, a bit old, did not look good to my eyes, too big et al - i.e. Aston V8V, or even DB9, old-skool R32 (kids hated), Masers of various ilks, etc. etc. The Evora is not like a halo version of a mass-produced car. That has positives and negatives. To me personally, I prefer that, but that might not suit everyone's OCD or ownership experience. I also am from Yorkshire, so hate thinking about losing money on a car which clouds my judgement. One more thing, I think this forum is brilliant, when I owned a few of my cars I missed being able to read the forums about stuff - either just chatty stuff, or more detailed "you fix X by doing Y" - the S2000 forum was good for that, but few others. I'm not sure where you live so likely useless but I'm near Southwell, Notts, you're more than welcome to have a drive if you want.
  20. You're in a similar position as I was a few weeks ago. I've come from various 2 seat sports cars, but with 2 young sons I rarely used them. There are unfortunately few 4 seat cars that are still fast/nimble/look good. I chose a Carbon Grey Evora S, but like you preferred the sports racer look so have had the roof and sills/splitter wrapped black. Mine is a MY11, but the gear change is good (not sure if down to new linkage a few years ago or not) and the interior is a nice snug place to be, even the hifi with some fiddling is not as bad as you expect. From everything I've read, as I'm sure you have, post MY12 cars are regarded more highly but I could not find one that I thought was worth the extra initial cost. Both tech and premium packs are worth spending a bit extra if you can. I have rarely been so pleased with a car choice, it ticks every box I was after. It drives amazingly and is undeniably more interesting and rarer than any Porsche (997.2 C2S was on my list, as was an older R35). Thumbs up from people rather than awkward stares. (first post on here after many an hour reading advice - I need to drop in on the "introductions" and say hi properly!)
