  1. It does seem a common problem looking at the many comments about it, I've just ordered a new brush plate and armature so hoping to refurbish mine, was hoping to avoid the cost of a new one - £530 from Lotus or £400 from Eliseparts!
  2. @Lukeyboy2k when you did this, did you remove the starter from the top once the air box is out etc... or did you need to access from below. I'm planning to do this this week as my starter has gone I think. I just get this 'fluttering' noise when I try and start the car?
  3. I'd be interested to hear how you get on.. my 2010 goes into gear ok but is quite stiff in the change. My local dealer suggested new gear cables and commented that they do suffer from excessive heat if tracked etc... I'll probably get them changed next year but not with the MY12 cables and setup.
  4. Time to get my wheels refurbished... has anyone had first hand experience in or around Northamptonshire. There are many places, most of them seem to have good reviews, but just wondered whether there is a anywhere particular you'd recommend? Thanks,
  5. Great solution.. did a similar thing with the same cup holder and p clips...
  6. No, not sure why? I can see images in the previous posts but just not in this one. Also, I can't now see images in the 'Lotus Number 9 - the Evora Launch Edition Refresh thread' that I used to be able to see. I presume it must be my end? Some of the other threads seem fine?
  7. Any reason why I can't see the image.. just get a gVTPISW.jpg link?
  8. @Edmundo2 At the price it is, if its a sound car I might be tempted to wrap it in a colour that you like?
  9. Yes, great price.. and I have to say I do love the matt black look... isn't it good we are all different 😀
  10. Your Google must be better than mine 😀. The aston store (link above) works out at £38 inc. postage which was the cheapest I found. There's plenty of Betaclean 3350 but I assume that's a different product, though not really looked into it.
  11. Here's a couple of pics of the 'MY12' seals on my car. The first pic is it in place... the 2010 seals if I remember correctly are glued below what you see to the sill side though I can't remember how it was rooted around the door. The dealer changed mine because I was getting water ingress and the sill top was getting very wet whenever it rained hard? The problem I have with the 'MY12 seals is that the sill ridge/groove (?) isn't deep enough to hold the seal in place so it just comes away usually when you are getting in and out (second pic). I'm just working on a solution to ensure its fixed into place...
  12. Just to complete this thread.. brake cleaner worked ok, still meant several hours of scraping/soaking with fluid etc, but finally it all came off. I also found this place if anyone ever wants to buy the Lotus recommended cleaner: https://www.astonstore.co.uk/product/betaclean-3900/ but brake cleaner worked fine for me so thanks @Bruss for the recommendation. Now off to work out how to better fix 'MY12 door seals to a 2010 Evora... 🤔
  13. Thanks, I did try there.. comes to £34 when you add vat + delivery.. but when you come to create an account it says its for business/trade only.
  14. thanks... works out at £43.90.. maybe, though I think I'll try brake cleaner first!
  15. Yes, that's the thing.. was going to order form there at £34 but it said it didn't support domestic accounts, only businesses? Ah ok.. will give that a go tomorrow, thanks
  16. My 2010 Evora has the '12MY onwards door seals, but the way the seal is attached looks bodged. The seal is fixed to a long piece of plastic which in turn is fastened to the paintwork via several strips of black sticky adhesive. Anyway, I'm trying to clean it all up and fix it better.. the Lotus recommended adhesive cleaner is 'Betaclean 3900' but costs £121.83 from Lotus which strikes me as a tad expensive, but I can't seem to find it anywhere else. Has anyone used an effective adhesive cleaner to get rid of what seems to be fairly heavy duty adhesive, but is kind to paintwork!
  17. Yep, it helps if you know the car I guess... and you like white! The Will Blackham one looks better value to me?
  18. Premium price though even with forged wheels and flat air bag cover? Loved the pic with church & mountain in backdrop!
  19. Thanks for this.. you obviously know what you are doing... 😀, and a bit beyond me I think!
  20. Hi Bob, very intriguing!!! When you say its your own system, can you clarify what you had to buy and what you had to presumably make yourself? I don't really understand these things but did it need anything else, i.e. messing with the ECU etc...? Looks great by the way...
  21. yep, that's the kind of thing I am thinking about... saw this on the forum a while back which I think looks fabulous...
  22. and I absolutely love this car! Have done just over 4000miles, but expect to do more this year, and the car has now done 45k miles. The only issues I've had over the past year were 1. lost the clutch pedal and after looking on the forum wrapped the clutch slave cylinder pipe as per a service bulletin and it seemed to have done the trick, its not happened again; and 2. the car suddenly went into limp mode, local garage diagnosed it to misfiring on cylinder 2, so replaced the spark plugs and all is now well Other work done includes repairing the glovebox, fitting a new and larger steering wheel spacer, replacing the mudflap brackets for stainless steel ones, replacing the coolant temperature sensor, and a new engine bay flexible duct heat shield. Just had the major C service done plus a few other minor bits (clutch sensor switch, ARB bushes, ball joint boots) at Lotus Silverstone and very happy with the work and experience. This plus 4 new Michelin tyres has meant a relatively expensive first year, but I bought the car at a good price (£24k) and planned to have the budget to cover a bit of expensive. The gear shift is quite stiff and after talking to Lotus Silverstone its either £500 for replacement cables or £1800 for replacement MY12 cables... not sure its worth the latter and I may try lubricating them first as others have done on this forum. I've kinda got used to how it shifts though.... 🤔 Now I know this will be a keeper, contemplating some cosmetic changes in the Spring, i.e. red callipers and wing mirror covers.. and maybe some red stripes? Black wasn't my first choice colour but its really grown on me and I think a bit of red splashed here and there will also help... Finally, a big thanks to this forum.. so much good advice and experience... its really helped through the year... What a fantastic car!!!!! Cheers, Ade
  23. Hi Chris, as tempting as that is I can't really justify spending out that much at the moment.. though if I could guarantee selling my black ones it might be a different story... thanks anyway..
  24. Hi Dave, thanks for posting... this is on my todo list. When you did yours did you take the callipers off the mount bracket to get easier access to the back of the callipers, and did you remove the pads? Or was it easy enough with them in situ... looks a great job by the way.
  25. Just use a flat bladed screwdriver to gently prise it off, working your way round the ring as you do. This will help...
