Has anyone who is selling an Evora suddenly had an uptick of attempted scammers in the past few weeks?
One example is an attempted purchase without seeing the car from a "DAVID JONES" (in caps) and after a brief e-mail chain the final response from him was:
"Ok, thanks for the reply. I want to inform you that I am interested in purchasing it promptly. Yesterday, I visited the bank to enhance my limit for a direct transfer, but that option isn't feasible due to my current situation. I was advised to use a bank draft for payment. If you're in agreement, please inform me so we can move forward with the sale. Additionally, you can confirm the credited funds in your account before pickup; this method guarantees 100% security."
Autotrader confimed to me this guy is a scammer.
Second one involves another person calling me to ask if I would accept finance - ie: have the finance company pay me the value of the car rather than him making the payment. Obviously huge red flags here, but he called last week and attempted again today seemingly to have forgotten that he called last we to see if he could purchase my "Evira" on finance. I've not heard of this attempted scam before specifically.
