  1. I took some photos of my car tonight, and did some cloes ups of the bodywork with the capping rail removed. It shows the rivet positions. If you want me to post them up please let me know.
  2. I bought the new chrome trim for my S2 from SJ Sportscars. I would imagine it is the same for the S3. They were only £15 each side from memory.
  3. No worries, will be Monday/Tuesday when I next see the car.
  4. Looks really nice in that colour, even with the snow! Glad you got the car home in one piece.
  5. Another vote for Firefox. IE was hopeless on my laptop, my brother is an IT geek and suggested I change, has been no problem since.
  6. My S2 currently has the sunroof out as its being resprayed - if you want some photos of either the appeture or the unit itself let me know. The sunroof has been blasted and painted and I have it here waiting for the car to be finished. Mine is a black two part frame with a removal glass panel, but I have no idea if the car came with it or if it was added.
  7. I think they will! That may sound daft but all it takes is some freak weather, a mixed up grid from qualifying and it could happen! I must say I don't think it will be on merit, unfortunately - it will need some odd circumstances.

    Go Compare

Actually I think the Halifax ads are the worst - the current radio station one in particular. Is that going a bit off topic? Or should we start a new "most annoying TV ads" thread?

    Go Compare

I would rather spend more on my car insurance than use go compare. In fact, if its not the fat git singing with his stupid moustache its a bloody meerkat, or Peter Jones wizzing down an aisle on a supermarket trolley. They can all get lost as far as Iam concerned! They must be all be keeping ITV in business at the moment just by themselves. Rant also over.
  10. Cool! Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is there any reason why there was such a short distance for him to stop? He only just made it!
  11. Happy new year all and best wishes for 2010!
  12. Agree that the black Stig had a lot to do with it. He did the Lambo Murcielago in series 1 and then white Stig re-did the time in series 3 and the new time was much faster, and am certain a white stig lap of the Esprit would also be quicker.
  13. I had a trojan horse earlier this year - my Norton found it and quaranteened it but it kept coming back. My brother (who works in IT) suggested Malware which is also free. This also found the trojan more accuratly than Norton, but again it kept coming back. Only way I could eliminate it for good was to do a complete reinstall of my laptop, which did the trick. The trojan had made it onto one of my external hard drives but Malware found and got rid of it OK. Its very concerning as the trojan I had was called a "password stealer" so if a reinstall was needed, so be it.
  14. Shame to see the name disappear, but as hinted above the real Saab probably died a long time ago. It seems these days that car companies have to share or join forces in order to survive, inevitably removing the X factor that made them famous (in Saabs case, their quirkyness). As an Alfa Romeo owner I am teased that my car is just a big Fiat...and will soon be becoming a Chrysler. And the Jag X type never shook off its Mondeo roots, despite the Mondeo being a fine car. Thank god no Proton stuff ends up in an Elise or Evora (please don't tell me I am wrong on this one!)
  15. A complete vehicle wrap will cost you around
  16. The world has officially gone mad.

    To sell or not

I think there is a lot to be said for owning a car for a while and therefore knowing it (not just a Lotus). My Elise was only a year old when I got her, so I knew everything would be almost new and, with the exception of normal servicing, I have not had to replace anything excpet a battery in seven years. My Esprit is a different story - I am at the tail end of an exterior restore and then there is all the mechainical stuff to think about - but once its done my useage and milage should (hopefully - as per my Elise) mean that wear and tear should be as low as it can be. Once done I certainly would not be ready to sell and start over again! Its like owning a house in a way...people decorate everything, put a new kitchen & bathroom in, conservatory on the back...then decide to move! Maybe its a boredom thing? Better the devil you know!!!!!
  18. Didn't see that one comming when I wrote my comment!!!!!! Wel, theres the exception that proves the rule!
  19. Agree, back on form and best one in ages. Lancia piece was a true petrolheads tribute.
  20. I think if he had more money than sense it would have been sorted by now - he clearly doesn't have any sense or he would not be keeping a car like that in bush! Makes you mad that people have cars like that and then don't look after them. A 355 would be more than welcome with me.
  21. Managed to grab the chance in the three hours of sunshine we had yesterday after lunch to finally take my Elise out having not used it for two weeks. What does that say that I am looking at the forecasts and dedicating the only dry period to taking the car out? It just started to rain as I reversed into the garage. Again like you paul, I have no problem using it in the rain but thats not what I have the car for and becuase I don't have to use it in the rain, I don't. You are right though,,,the rain has been relentless and its starting to get boring.
  22. This was on Pistonheads a while back for
  23. There is I think a seperate thread somewhere about what constitues a classic. My feeling is that whenever a car gets to a certain age and becomes very rare it is classified as a classic, irrespetive of the fact it was a good car or not. Condition is eveything though! My daily runner is an Alfa Romeo GT and I have one eye on maybe keeping that long term to see if that becomes a classic. Everyone's opinion will be different on this!
  24. I like the changes...as an Elise and Esprit owner I now have more to look at! Serioulsy, I would agree there on the Esprit side there does seem to be less going on, but I can#t see as though the changes are the reason. Maybe people are using their cars less at this time of year, particulalry with the wonderful conditions we have had of late.
