  1. I had My Evora under a cover, albeit under a car port for 5 years without any paint issues. Oddly the car seemed happier then rather than being garaged as it is now. I guess the ambient temperature helped in some way.
  2. If Geely hadn't bought Lotus, the company may have gone and Hethel would have been sold anyway - agree that its a concern, but at least its had a stay of execution to prove itself. I would say the Lotus ethos isn't a sustainable model anymore, otherwise they wouldn't be making the sort of cars the hardcore fanbase don't like. Its a weird situation, the Chinese side of things has to exist for the "Lotus" side of things to survive at all.
  3. My speakers had the wires soldered on, so I had to cut the wires to get them out. I would like to make up a brand new section of cable, rather than join the new and old together but given I can't trace the original getting I think that's my only option.
  4. Hopefully a quick & easy question. I am currently upgrading the speakers on my 2010 Evora. I have had to cut some wires to replace with the new speakers, and ideally I would like to re-use all the existing loom connections to save me re-running cables for everything. However, I cannot for the life of me find where to get the connection blocks - see below, anyone know where they can be sourced from? I am assuming the are of Alpine origin but if anyone knows different that would be helpful.
  5. I can't afford to change, but even if I could I am not sure I would. That's nothing against the Emira, I love it but wouldn't want the Evora to go for one.
  6. My best tip for retaining a new car smell is not to use an air freshener of any kind. My Kuga is a year old and still smells like new. Maybe it was the torture of headaches as a child in the back of a car as a result of those horrid air fresheners that looked like a set of traffic lights ( I am sure the older amongst you will know what I am on about). For some reason my parents loved them.
  7. I am slightly worried by how well the Eletre may be selling. Hendy in Eastleigh currently have 16 of them on the roadside which have been there since at least Christmas. I assumed at that point they may be waiting collection by would suspect they are unsold. Hope I am wrong, its a fab looking car.

Trouble is, all the behind the scenes stuff at Red Bull is far more interesting than what is happening on track.
  9. I have, but then I live less than a mile from my local Lotus dealer so that's probably no surprise. They do have a lot in stock on the forecourt (I counted 16 over Christmas) so I am not sure what sales are like, its a very nice ting thought IMO.
  10. Just goes to show how cheap the white SR which sold for £35k was, although it was a N/A instead of an S.
  11. Not surprised that one has gone, lovely looking car and great price for a SR. I was even considering changing my white NA for this one but just couldn't justify it. The yellow one discussed above would really benefit from the black pack IMO as well as the obvious bumper work.
  12. The marcasite was long gone when I got my S2, so I would 100% keep it. I got mine done in Alcantara, which looks nice and modern but I fear will never have the appeal of the original interior.
  13. Yes it was. I will be putting it all back together this weekend so will check.
  14. Thanks guys, I had the relay mod done when I got the car so its definitely the alignment which is the issue. I could barely move the window using my own strength so no amount of electricity was going to cope with it. I will have a play.
  15. I couldn't find anything previous about this subject, but hoping someone may have had to do this. My car is an S2 but guess this applies equally to all G cars. The glass completely stopped moving just before Christmas. Assuming it was the motor, I took it apart - having then tested the motor with the glass removed, it worked fine (I have had it reconditioned anyway as it was out). Having freed the glass (it was seized solid, no wonder the motor couldn't move it) it now moves freely at the lower part but then gets stiffer the higher it gets, and is now not locating within the frame as it reaches the top (I never noticed this before, I am guessing the door card may have compensated enough when in position for this to not be an issue). Therefore, is it possible to either shim or adjust the angle of the window glass slider inside the door frame so I can get it running smoothly? I would mention that the window frame had snapped when I got the car and has been re-welded, so it may not be at the absolute correct angle which may not be helping although I don't think its far out. Also - whats everyone's thought on greasing the components - my pulley guides were greased but they seem to glide better without anything.
  16. I walked past Hendy Southampton last week, I counted 16 Eletre's and 4 Emira's at the front of the dealership and in the showroom. Just goes to show how different things are now to when the Evora was first produced.
  17. Happy new year everyone. Have plans for both the Evora and Esprit this year which I am looking forward to.
  18. Once you have decided which car you want, keep a regular eye on the "market watch" threads within the individual model forums - it started as an Evora, thing, but I think most models have their own now under the "General chat" section of each. I got my Evora this way from a member who was selling, so dealt direct and the car didn't even end up being put up for sale. A forum member is about the safest way to buy privately I would say.
  19. Wow. Assume they knew you were going to see it? That's so poor, not just with the battery being flat but slso not being able to rectify. Do they want to sell it or not?? That said don't hold it against the car, these don't come up often and it looks lovely. I would give it one more chance.
  20. I'm pleased it's on hold, only reason I am slightly sad is for Chris Harris as he was the best thing about it. It was starting to go stale even towards the end of the Clarkson era, and I think its just run its course. Car fans need to head to you tube now for car entertainment, but there is lots of it and plenty of variety so I won't miss TG.
  21. Bournemouth Road going past the Vauxhall dealer around 15:00. Looked very nice. Anyone here? Second one I have seen put on the roads now.
  22. Yes I was aware they were an option on earlier cars but the fact all SR cars have them is a big plus for me. I can take or leave the Alcantara. Whether that puts them at such a premium over non SR cars is another matter, they have been mid late £40ks for a while now. I actually preferred the 400 over the S1 when it came out, but I am completely the other way now.
  23. I think the interior is a big plus for the SR too - although the same Recarro seats as the earlier cars, the revised leather treatment and red piping really lift them above the early cars. I have to say I think the S1 Evora shape is aging beautifully - I was at Hendy Southampton yesterday and as much as I was drooling over the Emira, I don't think I could move the Evora on for one even if I could afford to.
  24. I am sure "the car" is out there, but as others have said you will likely need to be patient. My search lasted a year, during which I turned down a similar car to what I was after which was only 5 miles away because it just didn't feel right.
  25. 3 Loti whilst out and about today: 1) Black Eletre in Woodside Avenue around midday - assume it was a Hendy demo vehicle 2) Dark verdant Emira, literally a minute later, coming out of Hendy I was in my daily for those two. 3) Carbon grey Evora on the Corhampton Road - I was in my white Evora and flashes were duly exchanged. Anyone on here?
